Hi guys, I know that logic suggests going to the artist who did my tattoo, but at the moment it's not an option.

I got my tattoo at the end of March, so it's had a good three weeks to flake which I'm pretty sure it's done (asides from a small area lower on the foot). Would it be an issue to start wearing footwear which is likely to rub the design? I don't believe it'll irritate to the extent where skin damage will occur, but I've come this far now I really don't want to mess my tattoo up.

Thanks

it should be fine. as long as you aren't wearing any shoes that actually rub your feet and hurt them anyway. for both of my feet i started wearing shoes and socks two weeks after the tattoo.

I would say that you should wait about a week to ten days after the tattoo has stopped scabbing a peeling completely. You would really hate to ruin the tattoo just because you wanted to wear normal shoes again. This art work on your foot will be there for life (unless you have more money than brains and have it removed by laser) and a few more weeks of no shoes is better than a lifetime with a bad tattoo. If there is no scab or peeling at this time, and has not been for at least a week, then I would say you can go back to wearing your shoes again.

I got a tattoo on my foot in August and I started wearing shoes after it stopped flaking. As far as messing your tattoo up goes, tattoos on areas that experience a lot of friction, like feet, tend to fade faster and its likely that it will need to be touched up in about six months because mine has faded quite a bit since I first got it.

All you need, believe it or not, is Bag Balm. It is the stuff that you put on cows utters when they are chaped. You can get it at wal-mart. You just put a thin layer on then put your sock on and it will be fine. I wore tennies home from the palor when I got my foot done. Believe me Bag Balm works great. It keeps the color well and it also helps the itch

Always better safe than sorry, I'd say wait another week or two. I don't think any one pair of shoes is worth messing up something that'll be with you for the rest of your life.
