The World - i agree, we are free to worship as we want, i just don't understand people who say their way is the only true way to the divine.

Well, probably all gods are man-made. No religious book can be taken as proof of the existence of a god because they are biased towards the religion they are trying to promote (Christian, Jewish, and so on). Actually, before monotheism appeared (with Zoroastrans way before Jews) there were several gods with different powers in order to explain things and processes that people could not easily understand (like rain or the harvest). As things have become easier to explain, most politheist religions have started to fade away, and the function of God today is to give people some sense of comfort regarding difficult matters such as death and otherworldly justice.
Maybe there is just one God, but it is quite egotistic to say that all other gods are man-made, without admitting the possibility that your god might be man-made too. That is patronizing members of other religions instead of analyzing the whole matter with an open mind. After all, there is no real proof one way or another. Therefore, I believe that peple who answered that to you before were not really very objective.

Hi! The answer to your question lies in the nature of the entities you mention. The God of Christianity and Judaism is, by definition, eternal. He is without beginning and without end. Hence, if He were created, He would not be God.
Basically, if God created the universe, then He necessarily transcends the dimensions of space, time, energy and matter. None of the gods of mythology are ever described in the same manner. In other words, we're working with at least two definitions of *God*.
If you're truly interested in finding out why, please see the link below. It is a basic, easy to understand, argument for God's existence and why He is eternal and why His attributes preclude the possibility of multiple gods.
If you have any questions or comments about what I've written or the argument below, feel free to email.

I'm seeing it as a bit of both these days. I feel that any belief system should culminate in some sort of direct action to improve the planet. It's not enough to just believe. Belief should be manifested in some sort of positive action. Bringing the Divine into the world is an appealing concept, rather than just worshiping from afar.

The God of the Universe through Scripture (10 commandments) has forbidden making any "Graven Images" of Him or False gods. The idols representing "Gods" ARE man made and are designed to distract from the "True God" of the universe by Satan. If U research it in a True effort to learn and not just mock, U will see that mankind made idols for just about everything in his life! Of course they didn't help, but it gave him that "Rosey Glow" & warm feeling inside. He swapped idols like kids swap baseball trading cards today! There are many passages in Scripture where the Hebrew God of the Universe (the Christian God) was put to the test & Crushed or Consumed the graven images & the people who worshiped them with Fire from Heaven!!! God flooded the earth and saved the righteous Noah & his family. (Gen. 7:17) (1 Kings 18:all) So if (and I boubt it ) U really want answers instead of just a "platform" for justifying Ur disbelief, read the Scriptures they are for everyone!!! John

The god of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is no more or less man-made than any other. The gods are man's interpretation of deity or universal energies. They are merely a way of dealing with the universe in a way that we can get our heads around it.

Those that are insecure in their own faith will categorically dismiss anything they don't understand or a new idea. All gods are man made whether fanatics will admit it or not. Their hypocritical beliefs are unfortunate, but I wouldn't let it upset me.

I belive in my God (Allah) because this is told us my the Holy Booh Quran and by Muhammad PBUH. Quran is booh which was sent by Allah like other holy books and this is the last holy book. 1400 years ago the book came and none of its saying has proved wrong so far so this is prove that this is real holy book and it says Allah is the only God so I believe.

easy. I have vocal cords.
seriously, if you've ever read the Bible, you should know where I'm coming from. God says the "gods" are basically images or ideologies crideitted for His work by man, and are worshipped by their creators. also, many are demons at work or men exhaulting themselves. so there you go.

of course they'll say that it doesn't agree with "their" teachings. it's just best to ignore stuffl ike that. no one is gonna change and some people are stubborn, intolerant and arrogant naturally so it's not worth wasting your time debating some people like that.
