Has anyone had experiences either positive or negative. I need to hear both sides. I have tried everything to lose weight and feel that this is my last resort.

Do NOT get a lapband. They have not been proven long term. There may be a cancer link. And ANY surgery is life threating.

You have not tried everything. It is very simple, don't eat so much. Do not Diet or buy any diet book. Change your lifestyle.

Go out tomorrow morning and walk for 10 minutes, increase this by 3 minutes/day till you get to 45-60 minutes. Repeat in the evenings. Stop drinking anything but water and 100% pure fruit juice, no coffee, no diet anything. Make all you food, do not eat out. Eat oatmeal for breakfast every day. Eat vegitarian meals at least 3 times/week.

instead of just "dieting" have you tried to make physical fitness a lifestyle and not just a solution to lose weight? how about changing your views on what the actual purpose of food is? and eating for function vs flavor.

the medical community has no idea what the long term effects are of changing the physical nature of the human digestive tract from lapband surgery. it is certainly not an improvement over the original design.

I only know it means eating tiny bits of food for the rest of your life. There have been both successes and failures. I have a friend who it didn't work out for, but it was her own fault. She just couldn't stay with the way she needed to eat for it to work. But try the South Beach forum site. There's a link below. I think there have been many discussions on there about that that proceedure. Or you could also post a question there too. I'm sorry that I don't know where those discussions were.
