I want to have a "wishing well" at my wedding where we will give the guests small stones so they can stop by and make a wish for us. I want to have a video camera set up so we have a nice record of what everyone says. However I am having trouble finding a poem or a verse that I can use on the programs to let people know we would like them to do this. Any suggestions?

Most wedding "wishing wells" are really just a nice way of asking for money. That is not the type of poem I need. I literally just want them to make us wish and toss a pebble into a waterfall. Now I just need someway to tell them that.

Really b/c of the way some tacky people have decided to make the wishing well be a way of asking for money you can't even find poems anymore about wishing wells that aren't a blatant excuse to ask for money.

SO I have a suggestion for you. Write your Own!!
It's not that difficult but since so many people will initially think you mean money--start if off with Seeking Advice.

And make sure when you create your lil wishing well to have water in the bottom so that it is clear you aren't expecting money to be thrown and have a big bowl of pebbles.

Something like this that I just wrote (feel free to edit at will--I just scribbled it down)

Please throw a pebble into our well
and record your words of advice
anything real quick in a nutshell
you need not be too precise

For here we've placed a wishing well
think hard about valor and virtue
but for this one you must tell
so we can try to make it come true

come up with a secret that you wish to share
and allow us to learn what you know
when you have decided, boldly declare
things you have learned from your beau

-------------
Edit. Ok I spent last night deciding to write an actual poem for you instead of just scribbling notes. This is what I came up with. If you use exactly this (or substitute the last verse for the last verse above) please credit it to CA Parker as that is the name I publish my poems under. If you use the one above, please DON'T credit it. lol. But please feel inspired to write your own. This is just a suggestion.

In this garden lies a wishing well
but not the kind you fear--
for this one is for wishes
on the pebbles you see here.

For a pebble has two sides
one for wisdom, words we'll heed--
the other for your wishes
for both we'll sorely need!

As you make your wish speak clear
so that later when we view--
From those we love and cherish
we'll get our marriage cues!

Please throw a pebble into our well
to share with us your joy
and now I bid you farewell
and a wedding to enjoy!

Has a great short story with a valuable message all based on wishing well. It would be great to use!
