a little soap & water is fine. A better choice would be baking soda & water, or vinegar in water. whatever your choice just rinse really well to get off whatever you cleaned with. It will be better with whatever you choose to clean with, than DIRTY!

Fill the feeder with haot water and add a handful of rice (uncooked) it acts like mini scouring pads..now gently shake the feeder..it should be cleaner now.

I use warm water and white vinegar and a bottle brush. This does well for me and you don't leave any soap residue. Rinse very well so you don't leave any vinegar in or on it. Good luck I hope this helped you.

Denture cleaner, works good on vases too.
