I kinda like your idea and thinking about that.....I always use the parable if your brother got killed by a 9mm would you wear a symbol of a 9mm around your neck.

I personally think its only an "Insult" when they keep showing Jesus still on the cross, because "He Rose From The Dead!!" Praise God, for our sin's!!! Showing just the cross, is only a symbol, to remind us all that He did indeed "Die For Our Sin's!!!" And without him on it, also reminds us that He Rose from the Dead for us!!! Something that Catholic's will never understand!! As far as Abe Lincoln's gun that shot him being revealed, I do think this is "Immortal" if you ask me!!! Its simply for those who are "Fixed-On" things like that!!! Not me, I loved Lincoln, altho, I never knew Him, he was a very Respected President!! The Cross without Jesus, simply implies Jesus Rose from the Cross and the Grave!!! And this is a "Good Thing" so long as He isn't on that cross, still !!!! EXCELLENT Question!!!

The Romans have an amusing way of insulting heroes. Cross is normally a way to humiliate a criminal. Look at them presenting their cross to the world as a symbol of the God they really never liked but at least they are able to control the minds. This is really a kind of lie that you present to your subject and since no one objected, you too came to believe in your own lie.
The Star of David is different, Hitler made it to humiliate the Jews but the Jews took it as their humiliation that will someday bring them back to their Old Glory.

If President Lincoln rose from the dead, a pistol might be a very poignant symbol of his power. Kinda thumbing your nose at old John Wilkes Booth for even trying.

that makes sense, but it is mocking the cross because it did not actually kill Jesus. He rose from the dead later and then rose into heaven and is alive today. It's kind of a joke really.

Very true. Ironically, the Bible doesn't even say that He was crucified on a cross. The word translated "cross" is from the Greek "staroo" which means a stake or upright pole. "Cross" comes from the Latin that was later used to translate the greek.
Yep...pretty ironic that a Roman instrument of torture would be used to represent Jesus...and especially in light of what the Bible has to say about making graven images.....

I'm only aware of Catholics doing that so I'd say a bit, but that "Hail Mary" part is much more of an insult, along with all the idols they worship.

The Cross is a symbol of the greatest victory ever won! Can you name a greater victory than the one over sin and death?
