I'm 15 years old and I'm on a some what diet for track. I weigh 128 rite now and I'm only 5'2. I started my diet weighing 133 and my goal is to get down to 120. But anyways I have track practice everyday for an hour and a half so I constantly burn some calories. Since I'm on a diet I am limited to what I eat so are grilled cheese sandwiches good to eat when trying to loose some weight? PLEASE HELP ME!

With all that oil and butter...I think the healthier choice would be a cheese sandwich...maybe melt the cheese in the microwave or oven but don't 'grill' it. Baked cheese sandwich?

First. let me praise you for setting a reasonable and healthy goal, rather than chasing Hollywood's elusive ideal of what they think women should weigh. Hurrah!

Secondly, you can make a grilled cheese sandwich that is less calories and fat than the average GCS by using low to nonfat cheese and thin sliced whole wheat bread. I'm not exactly sure what caliber GCS this will yield, but if you're really jonsing for one and don't want that extra splurge, just find low fat and low calorie alternatives. If you, like me, would rather have the real thing, do so, but only have it once in a while as a treat

Grilled cheese sandwiches CAN actually be really healthy, but you can't fry them up like they do in restaurants! Use whole wheat bread, not white bread, and don't butter it or put any mayo on it, then it will be full of oil and fat. One thing you could do to make them "grilled" is put them in the toaster or something, then its just like a grilled cheese.Put some cheese in between the two slices, and there you go, a reasonably healthy grilled cheese!

They aren't all that unhealthy to begin with but you can buy reduced calorie bread, fat-free cheese singles and use a margarine-spread rather than real butter. Stay active and drink plenty of water. Get rest as stress and fatigue are factors in gaining weight. Good luck.

I would just keep the grilled cheese to a minium. Before you go work out have a bowl of oat meal or some grilled chicken.
Have fun have fun have fun.

If you really like them, don't deprive yourself, you can treat yourself to one once a week, maybe. Or make a healthier version...don't slather the bread with butter and fry it. Toast some whole wheat bread and put some low calorie cheese on it. That would be fine for lunch...carbs and dairy.
