I love egg noodles w/ chicken breasts w/ a sauce made from cream of mushroom soup or swiss steak.
Chicken and Mushrooms (this is very close to my recipe)
* 4 boneless chicken breasts
* 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
* 8 ounces sliced mushrooms
* 1 can cream of mushroom soup
* 1 clove of garlic, minced
* 1/4 teaspoon leaf thyme, crumbled
* 1/8 teaspoon dried rosemary, crumbled
* 1/3 cup half-and-half
* salt and pepper to taste
* hot cooked noodles
In a large covered skillet, brown chicken in butter or margarine; remove to a plate and keep warm. Add mushrooms to skillet; sauté until golden. Stir in soup, garlic, thyme, and rosemary.
Return chicken to skillet. Cover and cook over low heat 30 to 40 minutes, stirring now and then. Blend in half-and-half; heat slowly. Taste and adjust chicken and mushrooms seasoning, adding salt and pepper, if needed. Serve chicken and mushrooms with hot cooked noodles.
Chicken and mushrooms serves 4.
Swiss Steak Recipe courtesy Paula Deen (like my aunt used to make)
1 round steak (approximately 1 1/2 pounds), see note
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper
All-purpose flour, for dusting
1/3 cup vegetable oil
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 (14-1/2 ounce) can diced tomatoes
1 medium onion, cut into strips
1 medium bell pepper, cut into strips
Cut steak into serving-size pieces. Season, to taste, with garlic powder and salt and pepper. Dust meat with flour. In heavy skillet, brown both sides of meat in vegetable oil. Transfer to Dutch oven. Combine garlic, tomatoes, onion, bell pepper, and 1 tomato-can measure of water. Pour over steak and simmer until meat is tender, about 7 to 9 hours. Season, to taste, with additional salt and pepper. Hint: Cook this in a slow-cooker on low for a most fabulous dinner. Low heat on a slow cooker is about 200 degrees F and high heat on a slow cooker is about 300 degrees F.
Note: to ensure tenderness, it is necessary to have the butcher run the round steak through a cuber.

I like to make chicken and noodles. I take chicken,diced carrots,diced celery, chopped onion, and 1 clove of garlic chopped and boil until chicken is done(falling off the bones). Then pull all the chicken out and finish de-boning, making sure to get all the bone out of the broth. Then add your noodles cook until done, add the chicken back into the pan and serve with home made biscuits.. I like mine best made with home made egg noodles. But store bought are good also.

try using leftover roast, steak, or a pound of ground beef or turkey and add:
1 small container sour cream
1/2 cup milk
1 onion soup packet
1 can/jar mushrooms
1/2 bag of egg noodles..
this is fastest for me if i boil the noodles and combine everything else in on the stovetop with the drained noodles.. adding frozen peas is good too.. serve with salad and bread..

a favorite of mine that my aunt used to make is mix hot cooked noodles with cream of mushroom soup and either canned tuna or canned chicken and a little milk to make creamier. I also like to add lots of fresh black pepper. Sometimes I also add green peas.
