Yes,they do get colds but not like we humans do. Dogs can also have allergies which can produce lots of eye boogers. Foods high in grains and fillers usually produce eye boogers in dogs.

Pups can get colds. It does sound like she is doing normal puppy things. Puppies sleep a lot sort of like babies. The discharge in her eyes can be normal as well. If it is thick or discolored (greenish), then it isn't normal, and/or if she is squinting or pawing at her eye. Is there any coughing or sneezing?

I would watch her for any change in her eating habits and behavior. If she starts coughing or sneezing a lot or her nose starts to have abnormal discharge, this isn't too good. You can take her temp if you want to (normal for a dog is btwn 100-102). Keep socialization to the minimal until her next vet visit.

Go ahead and set up her vaccine visit with a vet so you will have her scheduled at a place. If anything changes, then you can just call them and move your appointment to sooner.

Puppies to tend to sleep quite a bit just like a new born baby. yes they can get colds but if the vets dont seem to worried I would not really be either. As they said just watch her and if her symtoms get worse then call them again and take her in but right now it just sounds like all is ok. If you think it is more and are still concerned the vets will be happy to see her I am sure they just are trying to save you a trip in to see them. Good luck and I hope all is well.

It could be a cold or the start of soemthing more that's why they said to watch her. Just like children only pups can't tell us what to look at.

dogs do get colds....usually kennel cough....its like the common cold.....as long as she is eating and drinking well, and sleeping a lot she should get over it herself and you really don't need to worry to much...sleeping a lot is actually a good thing cause that will help her fight the cold.....just use a soft cloth to clean her eyes as they get gunked up....

hi,
yes they can get colds, and its very dangerous, they usually die if they dont are vacunated. So go to the vet, and if is vacunated just ask for some medicin.
GOOD LUCK

is she coughing also?

if she is coughing she could have kenel cough.

but i agree, its more likely to be an allergy, or a cold. the vets should be able to give her something for it.

Sure--they can get many of the health problems we have. My lab/Weimeraner mix even has diabetes, allergies and thyroid problems.

Is she coughing and sneezing, too.
Yes, they get upper respiratory infections.
I'm surprised no one wanted to see her.
