There is a problem with the VGT solenoid sticking on these particular trucks, which can cause either an underboost, or overboost condition. The common trouble code retrieved that indicates this is P0299. What happens is carbon gets lodged inside the unison ring and the vanes on the exhaust side of the turbo, it restricts free movement. You should also check the EGR valve for carbon. Another common problem with '05 to '07 6.0L diesels, is for the STC fitting to blow off the high pressure oil pump. This would cause a "hard start when engine warm concern" due to low ICP pressure. Make sure the dealer installs the 4C3Z-9B246-A STC fitting reinforcement while your vehicle is still with the diesel powertrain warranty. Hope this helps.

Ford F250 Diesel Problems

Sure have!!! I recently had an 03' Ford 6.0 Powerstroke and it was the worst vehicle i ever had and i bought it brand new.Within the first 10k miles the trucks electrical system caught fire under the hood costing thousands in damage.Within the next 25-30k miles the truck actually blew up!! No kidding i said blown up!! I know your thinking this cant happen with a powerstroke because of all the safety systems in place but it blew up with normal driving. The engines crank actually warped and bent a rod.Ford was completely baffled as well and the put in a brand new 6.0 Powerstroke in my truck for free!! With the new motor,i drove the vehicle about 5000 miles and the intercooler blew out of it!! This is not a joke!!I do not drive this truck hard at all, this was with normal day to day driving. After the intercooler blew,i hobbled the truck to the nearest Dodge dealership and bought me a brand new Dodge dually with a Cummins in it.I hate to say it but Fords 6.0 Powerstroke is a piece of crap!! It has tons of power but it isnt reliable at all. This stinks because i am a Ford man by heart but i couldnt take it any longer.Ford knows their 6.0 Diesel is junk too.Why do you think they got rid of it and built a the new 6.4 Powerstroke??They knew that the old 6.0 like you and i have were lemons and un-reliable.Take it from me,get rid of that thing asap.Give me a thumbs down if you want but this is just the way it is!!Sorry.

By 6cyl, I think you mean 6.0 liter?? And yes, I am a techinician at a Ford dealership and replace turbo's on the 6.0 Liters at least once a week. They are a known problem on those engines. Now some trucks I have done two on but the next truck will go 100,000 miles and be fine. But the answer to your question is yes, many people are having the same problem you are.

Some people don't know the difference between turbo, inter cooling or A blower. If you have A diesel, it is not normally aspirated

I have yet to see a 6 cylinder go in a F-250. I saw 1000's a day go down the line. It is a V8 with 6.0L.

I think you have a good answer with RAKEL
