I am just late with doing my taxes, what do I have to do to avoid penalty and extend the amount of time in which I complete my rturn?

call them info at www.irs.gov.

Probably still going to get a penalty unless you e-file by midnight

An extension only extends the time to file. If you think you'll owe, send the payment with the extension request.

File form 4868 and pay any taxes you think you owe at the same time.

contact your local irs branch. its a pain to actually get their num. u may try calling like h & r bloch and c if they have the number for the local branch. good luck
