To start, I will say that because no individual - during physical life - can truly understand & know what Eternal Life is, nor can one truly know if its exists before death; I will not ask WHAT Eternal Life is. However, if you would like to give your opinion on this, that is quite alright with me.

Here are the Real Questions I have....

To Believers::
As all three synoptic Gospels contain the passage of scripture which states: "And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?" -- I would like to ask the believers what they believe it takes to "inherit eternal life" ?

To Non-Believers::
As I said above... Given we don't know exactly what Eternal Life, or if it even exists, this is a hypothetical question for you.

IF Eternal Life were to exist (for this question, just take on the temporary belief that it does), would you want to "inherit eternal life" if you were told how to? OR, would you still rather hold a belief, like that of there being nothing that happens after death but nothingness. (i.e. You die, you're burried, and that's that.)

Tylr, with all due respect, that is a gross generalization and assumption on your part.
I hear many people I respect making this claim. I'm not interested in debates and I have nothing to prove, but I will say that I have experienced first-hand, my own immortality, infinity and eternity. I realize many will 'tsk, tsk' at my claim and maybe remove me from their contact list or whatever. That's ok. I bite my tongue many times when I hear claims like the one you are making and maybe others do the same to mine, but my point is: you, like many others, have already closed your mind to the possibilities, and that in itself will keep you from experiencing it for yourself.

-----I picked your question to make my statement, because it has been on my mind all day, I just got back from work and I saw
your question. Please do not be offended.
I'm not picking on you or looking for a fight.

A belief in an afterlife is NOT dependant upon any religious doctrine or belief. The afterlife is being studied by sincere scientific minds as so many people believe in an afterlife and continued existence. Eternity is a long time. Life is progressive and the existence may change over time to fit the spriit realms.

Because I have been given grace by the living God (salvation through Jesus Christ) I will have eternal life because I believe what Jesus did for me on the cross.

Now, that I know the truth and it has set me free (John 8) why would I want to go back to death? The answer: I wouldn't.

Peace be with you.

I believe in eternal life - we give birth and through the generations, life is perpetuated. We are a small part of a big wheel.

I find that beautiful and I find that I don't pine for heaven. However, I like adventure and if there happened to be a different wild ride after this one, I'd look forward to it.

I don't _refuse to believe_ in the concept of an afterlife, but i don't believe in one after all. That's not the same thing.

To me, eternal life means that my spirit lives on, after my body is dead. That I will return to God and Christ and will be with them. It also means resurrection. That my body will be reunited with my spirit and will be joined forever. My spirit and body after that time will never die again. Jesus made this possible when he died on the cross and was resurrected after 3 days. We have been promised that this will happen for everyone, no matter if we believe it or not.

I do think that our brains can't comprehend the idea of eternal life, or living forever. It's just too much to think about. But to me, it's about doing what I know is right, and following what I believe that will lead me to my final "reward", and to me, that's eternal life in the presence of God, Christ and my family.

I do believe in a form of eternal life.

When i die the matter that I consist of will return to the earth. Eventually a very long time from now, our sun will supernova, destroying all around it. Sending a shower of matter in all directions. To some extent, I will be that matter and possibly contribute to a ecosystem elsewhere. Thus the eternal circle continues.

Of course this is all opinion. I do not think that there is a heaven where people are walking around like our time on earth is, however, I do believe that there is something more. There has to be, I think we are too complex of a being for there not to be. I am a catholic minister, I believe in Jesus and God. But I think if there was a heaven where people excisted like they do on earth, there would be a shortage of chairs. Lol

Well there is eternal life for both .The Faithful to the Word of
God which will be in heaven ( I tell you that no man shall come
to the Father except thru me , being Jesus Christ ) and I do
believe in Him , in which that I am working out my salvation with every breath I take by the Grace of God , For the other who did not except the Word of God and thought by chance if they keep it hidden from themselves the just won't have to deal with it , well they get to have eternal torment !! don't want to go there...........

I read that, according to some scientific law (I should know better), energy never ceases to exist but it can change form. Eternity-according to what we know, I guess so. But, the only reasonable 'guess' (in my opinion) is reincarnation. See/judge your reaction to a certain stimulus given a different situation. If therre are higher beings that 'judge'.

the fundamental ingredient you ought to bypass to heaven is to truly have confidence in god. And dont dedicate sins. Youve have been given no longer something to lose. once you die youll be time-venerated by skill of your acquaintances and family members as a extreme-high quality individual who in no way stole, lied or used human beings and youll bypass to heaven. no you could actually stress you to have confidence in god in ordinary terms you will discover him on your soul no one else can assist you with that. After this stay your existence and its no longer something to difficulty approximately.
