Just returned from Iraq, not really coping with being home as well as I thought I would.

-- Appreciate the job you do.

I, too have PTSD. If you are living in the same house as other people, it is really important that they know you are dealing with this disorder. You need them to understand your reactions to tv or to triggers, and why you retreat or have sudden mood changes, or maybe your comments may not fit the setting you are in. If they can be there with you, and not be judging, this can be one of the most supportive things they can do. So, if they want to go to the movies -- tell them you don't feel like it -- but know within yourself that you are protecting yourself from possible triggers to unexpected violence or sounds on the big screen.

I have PTSD, but for other reasons. Not in the armed forces. The important thing for me was to identify what triggered certain memories for me. You can go through desensitization exercises with a therapist. I also try to use a distraction technique if I start remembering things I'd rather not. For me, I count whatever I can find. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Another habit I've taken up is meditation, but sometimes that just makes it worse for me.

If this doesn't sound like what you are going though, perhaps it's Acute Stress Disorder from a sudden lifestyle change. A therapist will usually need to give a patient time to either greive or adjust before they will diagnose PTSD.

Hope you get out of your funk soon! And welcome home!

Mean while, there is a depression cure:

When cured, REMEMBER words of JC;
Notably to both the man and the woman:
"sin(law) no more", lest a "worse" thing happen

Worse? Seven spirits in Revelation should ring a bell:

I deal with it one day at a time. Went through 2 years of twice a week therapy, it helped a lot.
