bread and peanut butter digest very slowly! This is a good thing to eat before cardio! Eat some fruit or a salad if its going to be 20 minutes before a workout

Peanut butter on wheat bread is good. But twenty minutes isn't really long enough beforehand for your body to fully benefit. I'd say at least an hour, preferably two, or that's what my trainer tells me. Don't forget to drink plenty of water, too!

Probably a good idea but 30-40 min.s prior would be better. The more digested the food the more energy in your blood stream and less volume in your gut.

your digestive tract needs extra blood to help digest food. if you eat right before exercising, it works your heart more. if you're used to exercise, it probably won't hurt. if you're not used to it, your heart might be overstrained. also, if you exercise on an empty stomach, your body burns stored fat instead of what's in your stomach. drink green tea and keep hydrated before and during your workout, then eat and drink more after.
