Everybody is talking about Jr. finishing off the race in Texas in the 5 car. If his contract negotiations didn't work out at DEI and he somehow ended up working for HMS how many of his fans would turn on him? It probably wouldn't matter if he went to Gibbs or Childress but many of his fans have a hatred for Rick Hendrick and his drivers.

I'm NOT suggesting that he is going to Hendrick. It's a hypothetical question that really doesn't need the "he'll never go there blah blah blah..." kind of responses.

Jr. needs Hendrick more than Hendrick needs Jr. I would love to see Jr. take over the #25 and have a Budweiser logo on the side, but Rick would have to fire Casey or put him in the Busch car which I'm not so sure he would do. Jr. needs to get out of his dad's shadow and go to someplace where he can win a championship. Hendrick along with Gibbs and Childress are good options. As far as the fans, he'll probably loose some, but he'll gain some back with good performances.

Honestly, he probably will lose face with a lot of his fans. A lot of his fans will see it as him "crossing over to the dark side." However, I really don't see many fans completely turning on him. Most likely, they'll be excited that he could very well finally have a more competitive edge than DEI could provide.

I've been speculating that Jr. would probably align himself with Richard Childress or Joe Gibbs. I thought that a more likely option. However, who's to say what will happen? NASCAR is known for it's "Silly Seasons." The contract negotiations, and what Jr. will be doing next year, are providing a lot of drama for NASCAR fans who are anxiously waiting to see what will happen.

I hope that satisfies. Blah, blah, blah....

I think it would be great to see it, just cause the hatred goes both ways. Most Hendrick fans hate Jr. and Most Jr. Fans hate Hendrick. The rivalry would make great entertainment.

He showed a lot of class driving Busch's car, but it is interesting to me that they would call on Jr to drive the car. He is an interesting choice.

Maybe the rumors are true.

Actually he would gain some fans.Once he separates from
D E I he will gain the fans that are not fans of D E I.Some fans like Junior but not DEI and will pull for him once he leaves ther.
Hendricks could be a good fit for him if the right sponsor is with him.

As a 48 fan, I'd LOVE to see Jr. come over to Hendrick and learn from Jeff like Jimmie has and is doing. Jr. has the desire but I just don't think he's given the confidence where he is that he needs to really reach the next level at this point in his career.

If Dale Jr somehow wound up at HMS...I would still be a fan of his. I am a fan of Dale Jr, not the team that he races for! I know that Junior is friends with a couple of the guys who work on the HMS teams, as that explains why he drove the #5 car after Kyle left the race track.

Wow. If that was to happen, HMS would really dominate NASCAR. As a #24 fan, It would be great to see both #24 and #8 work together. Jr can bring alot to the table. Hes a great driver.

On the otherside of the coin, What if he raced for M Waltrip in a Toyota?

i think of he wouldnt be there if he grew to become into no longer wanted! I dont think of he grew to become into unavoidably mandatory. i'm a extensive fan of JR and actually cant stand Gordon. yet, JR has on no account he has downed 'Jeffy' interior the previous. HE has supported him different situations against the followers. as a good distance because of the fact the followers. i'm partial to JR and his utilising. I dont base that determination on who he drives for, his sponsors, or vehicle extensive form. i'm JR fan, continually have been, continually would be! he will flourish right here ant Hendrick MS and finally have the properly suited components to win many championships!

I can always pull for Junior and dislike Hendrick. I always liked Junior Johnson but I couldn't stand Waltrip when he drove for him. I was happy to see Johnson get a win as an owner, but I hated his driver won.

If Junior and Kyle swapped rides next year, I would be happy if DEI gets a win, but I still wouldn't like Kyle.

So, NO, Junior wouldn't lose this fan.

For those of you who haven't followed the story closely, Junior has a couple of friends who work on the 5 team. One of his friends asked him if he would be willing to drive the car since they couldn't locate Kyle. Junior did it as a favor for a couple of friends, nothing more, nothing less.

He was asked by a reporter if he viewed it as an impromptu tryout. Junior responded, "Are you kidding?"

Some have speculated that Junior had ulterior motives as a spy. I don't know what they expect him to learn about their setup by driving a "wreck" around the track for a few laps.

If he could figure it out, he would have to be the biggest setup guru of all time. If any of you can explain how by driving that wreck would tell Junior anything about specific spring rates, shock compression/rebound, tire pressures, gear, caster, camber or toe-in, I would like to know. I'm always trying to figure out ways to improve my setups.

General information such as found in Junior's statement, it "drove real good" is about all you can learn. He may have been able to tell if a corner of the car was softer or stiffer, but he would not have any idea if it was spring, shock, or tire pressure or the combination. He could tell if the balance was good but have no idea how they achieved that balance.

It actually could feel identical to his own setup but they may have gotten there an entirely different way.

He would have to take measurements and tear down the car to get that kind of info or steal their notebook.

Besides, I'm sure if the 5 team was worried about it, they tweaked it before he got in. It probably required tweaking after the collision anyway. Not knowing how Junior likes his car setup, they could have tweaked it to make it a little less driveable for Kyle and wound up getting it perfect for Junior.

Setups are like that, they are highly personal.

First off it would never happen. They have four teams already and can't get a fifth because of Nascar rules. Second, they just got Casey Mears, Kyle Busch is right around the corner from relly doing good. Jimmie Johnson just won the cup and that would be to stupid to let him go, Jeff Gordon is Hendricks poster boy, and part owner of Johnson's car. It's not going to happen.
