The word “God” is a title not a name, just as “President”, “King”, Prince, “Queen”, etc. These are all titles not someone’s name agreed?
This being the case, then when someone says G*DDAMN he would not be taking the Lords “NAME” in vain, which is considered to be by all accounts a form of blasphemy.

However, according to Exodus 3:13-14……..
13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Isreal, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?
14 And god said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Isreal, I AM hath sent me unto you.

Dr. Seuss wrote a book called “Green Eggs and Ham” that uses the phrase “Sam I am” over and over throughout it. Then there is this………

Leviticus 24:16 …… And he that blasphemeth the name of the Lord, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the Lord, shall be put to death.

Does that mean since Dr. Seuss said I am over and over, (Being the Lords name according to the book of Exodus) should he have been stoned to death?

Yes, but Popeye was a cartoon....... We can't stone a cartoon. (Well maybe we could throw our stones at the TV screen?) Or.. we could stone the fellow who's voice is used for the Popeye character couldn't we?

I think you are getting the title or name of I am mixed up with a declarative statement in those books. If I were to tell you that I am Sam, rather than Sam, I am, do you still think it would be blasphemy?

The term "god" can be used as either a title or a name. While I will agree that technically it is more a title, the semantics of our culture blur this line and the term is used in both ways.

Aside from that, cute post. :)

How dare you accuse my holy books of Seuss (pbuh) blasphemy!!

Prophet Seuss (pbuh) has revelaed to us the miracle of the cat in the hat, the ABC book, and green eggs and ham.

His way is the truth.

Look...

I'm a Christian and I grew up on those books. They're just that.....children's books.

Nothing demonic or blasphemous about them
