Is it worth filing taxes. I made about 2000 dollars. I'm single and live at home with parents. I don't have dependents and I'm over 21. Should I file or not?

Both State and federal tax instructions describe in detail who is "REQUIRED" to file and who is not.

If you are required to file and don't, you will understand if it was worth it when the IRS calls you in for an audit.

You aren't required to, unless over $400 of the income was from self-employment.

If you had money withheld for federal income tax, you can file and get it back - your call on whether or not it's worth it

You are not required by law to file a return. If you think that you may be gettting a refund, I would then file a 1040-EZ and get a couple hundred bucks!!

You're not required to file if you made less than the personal exemption ($3,300 in 2006).
