It's not a theory hell was made up by preists in the medieval times so that more people would join there religion. People where scared to go to hell so they joined. Is it not suspisious on a religion if there priests make up things when ever they please. What do you think of this????

P.S I am not religious. This is a fact in history.

There was no logical reason for people to join this religion (they were pagans), so they made up hell and used fear in order to control them, after they butchered almost every non-Christian in the inquisition.
Hell is very effective for people to believe, as you can see from the other answers above, some people are really scared about this.

Hell exists, it is on the Island of Grand Cayman in the caribbean and I believe there is also a Hell in Finland.

Oh the religous hell, that was created to convert people to follow the religion and what the religous leaders told them these scriptures and books meant. It is part of the mind controll that various religions use and it is all made up rubbish and also contradicts the religions. If the religions are correct and this God has already decided what happens in time you have no choice as everything happens as god wishes and so if you are to go to hell god decided that before you where born and there is nothing you can do about it.

Okay, but everything in the Bible was BEFORE medieval times...however, while hell does exist, priests of the medieval times may have used it for that very reason...to get people to become part of that religion.
Priests are people, which means they can be crooked: no one ever said they were perfect (although some might try to act like it) I think that they knew hell existed, and that some of them put the fear in people and made them become a part of the faith.

Very true, the word "hell" is found in many Bible translations. In the same verses other translations read "the grave" the world of the dead." and so forth. Other Bibles simply transliterate the original language words that are sometime rendered "hell"; that is, they express them with the letter of our alphabet but leave the words untranslated. What are those words? The Hebrew she'ohl' and its Greek equivalent hai'des, which refer, not to an individual burial place, but to the common grave of dead mankind; also the Greek ge'en-na, which is used as a symbol of eternal destruction. However, both in Christendom and in many non-Christian religions it is taught that hell is a place inhabited by demon and where the wicked, after death, are punished [ and some believe that this is with torment]

Hmmm. Those medieval priests were busy with the Inquisuition and the Crusades. I guess they had to make the Hell concept up to explain what was left during and after their 'holy wars'.
Seriously, I know the word 'sheol' was incorrectly interpreted to mean 'Hell' but I thought that was done in the NT times.

The word "hell" is mentioned in 55 verses in the King James Bible, as translated from manuscripts much older than the medival priests.

Priests, clerics and others have created different religious practices over the years but, the priests don't get credit for "inventing" hell, sorry.

Hell is the common grave of mankind there couldn't be any everlasting fire of torment for dead people because the dead are unconscious Ecc 9:5 When it talks about everlasting fire it is a symbol of everlasting destruction in the bible
