Most faiths hold the book of Genesis at the very least to be more of an allegory than fact, meant to bring us to a better understanding spiritually. There are a number of stories (if I may use the term) in Genesis that bear strong resemblance to the myths of the region, including the Flood. Actually, almost everyone, all over the world, has got a Flood myth.
I mean, if you're questioning how the kiwi got to NZ, you should also ask how Noah got 2 of everything on his ark. Or 14, depending on the version. They're both in there, after all, as are 2 versions of the creation of people. Just let it speak to you about God the Creator.

On Noah's Ark.
Only an idiot would try and use the Bible as the sole reference for science.
And the opposite would be true if they said nothing in the Bible was true because of something that cannot be taken literally.
Science spouters say there is no God. It all started with the Big Bang and that happened long before the Biblical story over look one small point. Where did the BANG come from and what caused it?
Look up what Einstein said about Science and Religion and why you don't have one without the other. After all he was smarter than you.

What reference can you cite that says Australia was always an island continent? Why couldn't there have been a land bridge between the Asian continent, Indonesia, and Australia at one time in the past?
Space-based imagery and ground-based studies have recently determined that the Nile river once flowed *from* Egypt *across* the Sahara desert, west. That's just a small example of how the geography of the world as we know it today is not the same as it was in the past.

Well, they probably evolved to get there. Or better yet they weren't Kiwi then. They were known as the Kiwi fish and when they got to New Zealand uses the homestead act to set up shop and becomes what they are today. Evilution, got to love it, as it explains so many unknown things.

At one point, all of the earth's continants were one. But as time grew older, they slowly yet eventually separated. The Kiwi bird was obviously within New Zealand when the earth shifted aound like that.

to tell the truth, the Bible doesn't say that God didn't move animals from the garden of Eden to protect them, and some people believe that this happened during the great flood, just as there was land appearing around New Zealand

Does God not have the ability to put it there??
Could man not have moved it by boat or some other means of transportation??
That is like asking how corn can grow in the United States if it originally only grew in the Garden of Eden.
The Bible is the true word of God. If details are left out, then they are not important to our salvation. The lack of details do not prove the Bible to be wrong.

Simple - Your science is all a lie. New Zealand doesn't exist because it is not mentioned in the Bible.
