Also, some of the Morman teaching that contradicts the Good News of the Bible.

Where are the contradictions?

I don't believe the Holy Bible contradicts itself, but is True, as confirmed by the Holy Spirit.

Tonya, God won't let me even have a Mormon book in my house. He wont let me have an apocryphal in the house either. The anointing of the Holy Spirit )Spirit of Truth) led me to toss both of them in the garbage. They confuse me & idols in my life before.

I write this question because Mormons don't think there are contradictions.

elad9,

Those aren't really bible contradictions. Just something for antichrists to munch on. As the Spirit of Truth leads me into all truth, leads me to the whole Holy Bible as true. One just needs to want to hear from God, through the Holy Spirit.

Mormons believe these things about God: that He has not always been the Supreme Being of the universe, but attained that status through righteous living and persistent effort. They believe God the Father has a “body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s.” Though abandoned by modern Mormon leaders, Brigham Young taught that Adam actually was God and the father of Jesus Christ. Christians know this about God: there is only One true God (Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 43:10, 44:6-8), that He always has and always will exist (Deuteronomy 33:27, Psalm 90:2, 1 Timothy 1:17), and that He was not created, but is the Creator (Genesis chapter1, Psalm 24:1, Isaiah 37:16). He is perfect and no one else is equal to Him (Psalm 86:8, Isaiah 40:25). God the Father is not a man, nor was He ever (Numbers 23:19, 1 Samuel 15:29, Hosea 11:9). He is Spirit (John 4:24), and Spirit is not made of flesh and bone (Luke 24:39).

Mormons believe that there are different levels or kingdoms in the afterlife: The Celestial Kingdom, the Terrestrial Kingdom, the Telestial Kingdom and outer darkness. Where mankind will end up depends on what they believe and do in this mortal life. The Bible tells us that after death, we go to Heaven or Hell based on whether we had faith in Jesus or not. To be absent from our bodies as believers means we are with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:6-8). Unbelievers are sent to Hell, or the place of the dead (Luke 16:22-23). When Jesus comes for the second time, we will receive new bodies (1 Corinthians 15:50-54). There will be a New Heaven and New Earth for believers (Revelation 21:1), and unbelievers will be thrown into an everlasting lake of fire (Revelation 20:11-15). There is no second chance for redemption after death (Hebrews 9:27).

Mormon leaders have taught that Jesus’ incarnation was the result of a physical relationship between God the Father and Mary. They believe Jesus is a God, but that any human can also become a god. Christians historically have taught that God is Triune and that He exists eternally as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19). No one can achieve the status of God, only He is holy (1 Samuel 2:2). We can only be made holy in God's sight through faith in Him (1 Corinthians 1:2). Jesus is the only begotten Son of God (John 3:16) and is the only one ever to have lived a sinless, blameless life, who now has the highest place of honor in Heaven (Hebrews 7:26). Jesus and God are one in essence, Jesus being the only One existing before physical birth (John 1:1-8, 8:56). Jesus gave Himself to us as a sacrifice, and God raised Him from the dead, and one day everyone will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Philippians 2:6-11). Jesus tells us it is impossible to get to Heaven by our own works, only with faith in Him is it possible (Matthew 19:26). And many will not choose Him. “You can enter God's Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose the easy way” (Matthew 7:13). We all deserve eternal punishment for our sins, but God's infinite love and grace has allowed us a way out. “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

Even if you don't believe in "Mormonism", please realize that we do not believe Joseph Smith wrote the Book of Mormon, we know/believe that he translated it. We believe that he translated it from another language that does not exist any more. We believe that the people who contributed to the Book of Mormon were inspired by God, the same God that inspired those who contributed to the Bible. The reason we believe it is the best book ever written is because unlike the Bible, the Book of Mormon was translated only once - from the language of the Nephites into English. Because the Bible was translated many times before it even reached the Latin language, and because each time it was translated it "lost a little in translation", because of this, we believe that while the Bible has many truths and is scripture, it is missing some very important truths, and is only scripture as far as it is translated correctly. And we believe that these missing truths are found in the Book of Mormon. And to address your misconception that the Book of Mormon isn't true because it adds to the Bible when the Bible says not to add to it, the Book of Mormon doesn't pretend to ADD to the Bible. The Book of Mormon does not and has never been added between the covers of the Bible. It's never been printed under the guise of being the Bible. It does not introduce new principles not found in the Bible. It does clarify those principles, it does help those principles be better understood, but it does not introduce new principles. Nor does it say that there are principles contained in the Bible that are not true. On the contrary, it supports the Bible, it's another testament of the teachings of Christ. It provides clarity of Gospel principles. It does not pretend to take the place of the Bible.

We never claimed Jesus was in Utah, just on the American continents.

They weren't stone tablets, they were gold tablets.

Jacob/Israel had more than one wife at a time, so polygamy is talked about in the bible. David had MANY wives, all given to him in marriage by a prophet, except one.

Caleb is just wrong about everything he said. We believe Jesus to be the Son of God. The only one by which we may be saved. Jesus is Christ, the Messiah, the same Christ that traditional Christianity believes in. I don't even know what he means by "devine sacrifices". All sacrifice was done away when Christ came. All He requires is a broken heart and a contrite spirit. High Priests are not considered "gate ways" to anything. High Priests are a level of priesthood. We have two priesthoods, the Aaronic and the Melchezidek. AKA the Lower and the Higher. In the priesthood there are offices, one of these offices is that of High Priest. For most they are confirmed when they're 8 years old, right after baptism. Missionaries must be at least 19, so your whole "right after confirmation" thing is WAY off.

I don't think Gregory's response is geared towards Mormons so much as towards religion in general. However if it is geared toward Mormons, please understand that he is wrong as well. We don't believe any of the things he said.

Now that I've gotten that off my chest, I can answer your question, which is that it may be a matter of symantics, but I don't see any contradictions, just clarifications. There ARE differences. There ARE differences that are found in the Book of Mormon that are not clearly defined in the Bible, and in some cases not mentioned in the Bible at all. But to the way I see it, the Holy Bible, which I believe to be true as long as it is translated correctly, has not always been translated correctly. In some cases there have been mistranslations which cause errors. In other cases there have been blatant rewordings or even subtractions by those who were either writting it or translating it. Some errors were introduced in error/by mistake, others were introduced on purpose (I think). All of this is to say that while there are issues addressed in the Book of Mormon that in some cases are not even mentioned in the Bible, it doesn't mean that those true principles were not had by the early Christians, they were just left out for one reason or another. Many plain and precious truths were lost by the time Gutenberg invented the movable type printing press. The Book of Mormon restores those plain and precious truths, and further gives a second witness to the truths held in the Bible. They are both the word of God, but because one was translated many times and one was translated only once there is a difference.

Now, if you want to know what these differences are, I suggest you study the Bible alongside the Book of Mormon and find them yourself. Then ask God to help you understand which is true and which is either a mistranslation or is false.

I am LDS and see little contradiction between the Bible and Mormon theology. In fact, the Bible supports Moron doctrine. We believe the Bible to be the word of God.

"Contradictions listed above by other answers have scriptures that support them in other parts of the Bible.
For example, the "good works are not necessary" statement has the opposite points made by the Savior himself.

Matthew 16:27
Matthew 5:16
James 2:14-22, particularly verse 17

There are no contradictions. Maybe there are to your interpretation of the Bible. But, after I studied the Bible, and made a mental list of what the true church would believe, then talked with the LDS missoinaries, I just knew that I had found the most Biblical church. The Book of Mormon was an added bonus.

I don't believe that the BIble contradicts itself. However, if one applies some of the arguments against the Book of Mormon tothe Bible, then the Bible is no more the word of God than the Book of Mormon is.

I could come up with some, but I could just as easily come up with contradictions within the bible depending on the interpretation. People can often find what they want to find. To some people something is a miracle, to others it is a coincidence.

"The Book of Mormon is another witness for the truths taught in the Bible. The Bible and the Book of Mormon "shall grow together, unto the confounding of false doctrines and laying down of contentions, and establishing peace"

The bible was written by ancient people whose highest knowledge (and the holy spirit) told them that the Earth was flat. Adam & Eve: When members of the same family bear children, the offspring are always born with genetic abnormalities including sterility. Noah & the Arc: The unlearned people who wrote this story didn't know that there are over 1 million different species of insects and Noah would have to go to the Amazon Rain Forest to gather many of them. How did Noah gather 2 Polar Bears for the Arc when he didn't know that they existed? I could go on and on. Religions know that this is not the word of God but insist that the followers believe that it is.

Mormonism’s unscriptural conclusion that God has a body of flesh and bone. Joseph Smith, said in Times and Seasons of August 15, 1844: “It is the first principle of the gospel to know for a certainty the character of God and to know that we may converse with him as one man converses with another and that he was once a man like us; yea, that God himself, the Father of us all, dwelt on an earth, the same as Jesus Christ himself did.”
Stephen L. Richards, one of the Mormon presidents, said: “In their conception, the spirit of man not only never dies but it lives through states of eternal progression. Whatever is learned or acquired in one’s life is taken on to a succeeding life."
That idea means accepting the non-Biblical idea of an immortel soul.
Regarding marriage:
Wallace Bennett says: “The Mormons believe that when the ceremony is performed in a temple, by one holding the necessary authority, the union is eternal in duration and extends beyond death.” There is nothing in the Bible to warrant this conclusion

wow, after reading the responses, proves to me how little people actual know of the church but claim and believe they know these things to be fact. .. they are not. The Book of Mormon does not contradict the Bible at all--it is another testament of Christ, rather you to believe it to be true is between you and the Lord but it speaks of Christ and his teaching so it does not contradict the Bible at all in that aspect. Just as the Bible only you and your faith can prove it true or not true.
