Pope John Paul visited the U.S. in 1979, 1987, and 1999.

Do you mean "in life," or do you mean "as a spirit"?
In life, Pope JPII visited the USA several times...one famous time in New York City with a Mass at the Aquaduct.
In spirit, I don't know. You'd have to ask him. :-)

Yes. I believe he visited the US three times. Maybe more. His last visit was in St. Louis. I think that was in 1997.

Not since he died, because he is still in Purgatory.
Seems he sold Zyglon-B gas to Germany when he worked for a Polish chemical company during WWII.
The penalty for that is one year Purgatory for each Jew gassed--about 6,000,000 years worth of torture. Yes, God is a God of Justice:

he came a couple of times.. in his little Pope mobile, I even think someone tried to shoot him back in the 80's
