is I fell and hurt my back I went back to work for 20 hours and the other half on workers comp- the workers comp people asked me if I wanted to get a settlement for some reason. I don't know why that is. Is it because if I go back working full time my employer is going to fire me?

were you released to go back to light duty work by you doctor? If I were you I would talk to an attorney because you may go back full time and I guarantee that your work will be watching you and find a reason to get rid of you. You have become a liability to them now. Plus if you have bigger problems with your back later and end up not being able to work then the wc will be responsible for your medical and pay. Please talk to an attorney to protect yourself, it won't cost you anything and it can't hurt anything. The laws are different in every area and only an attorney for your area will know where you stand.

I would suggest you contact a lawyer if you don't already have one. A settlement now might take care of current medical treatments and loss from work. However, if you settle before you are medically ready you would be responsible for all future medical costs. Also if you are only able to work 20 hours a week will that help you with your daily living expenses. Be careful what you sign and again I urge you to contact a lawyer.

depends on your employer. If you take a settlement you're done collecting money from them. If you end up never being able to go back to working 100% they're responsible for you for the rest of your life, if you take a settlement you're done.

Your entitled to any money you shelled out for the injury including perscription drugs, over the counter medication, Co-Pays, etc...and your entitiled to pain and suffering and any missed wages. They are asking you to settle so you do not file a lawsuit against them. As to whether or not you SHOULD settle is a question for a lawyer.

Maybe they are trying to limit the amount of money that is paid out. The longer you are out on workman's comp. the more money that will be paid out.
