Unless you plan on living in Nigeria, get over the idea of a pet Hyena. They're not pets!!!
You must've overlooked this part:

A friend of mine had a tame hyena in South Africa. They are very loving affectionate animals. The circumstance of a tame hyena is rare as you have to get them as pups.
I would love one too, but you have to get a special license and those are expensive.

So you are in Capetown, then? Yes, people (as a general rule of thumb) tend to be stupid. How the human race got so far along technologically, while remaining so basically dense, is beyond me. Maybe we had help?

They are breed in captivity but they will only sell them to zoo's Sorry they don't make good house pets!!!

I think you should spend time with one first, see if you really like them...my advice. Go to the nearest zoo, and when no one is looking climb in with them, spend a few hours there...see how you like it. When you get out of the hospital (if you even make it there) see if you still love hyena's if so, go kidnap one from the wild. LOL

It is illegal to have any wild animals in the United States.. The only chance of you getting a hyena is if you have a special liscence, which, I am assuming you don't.
"Private ownership of dangerous species is not encouraged, nor is the ownership of primates or exotic species, all of which have special needs in order to ensure a fulfilled life."

1. You dont.
2. They are illegal in the US, for good reason they are not pets, they need freedom, and a pack.
3. They are vicious and would make bad pets.
4. Why would you want to torture a wild animal by trying to demosticate it?
5. If you truly loved hyenas you would let them live peacfully in Africa where they belong.
6. If you are really dieing to see one upclose try a zoo, or volunteer at an African wildlife preserve.

Hyenas aren't exactly people freindly just because they laugh !
