You're right, you can be in love at 16, and it is not too young. However remember that you are in love with someone who I assume is also 16. In the next 6 years you will both change dramatically, trust me. After college neither one of you will be the same person you are at 16. Hopefully at that time you two will still love the new versions of yourselves as much as you do now.
I think what a lot of people on here are trying to say is don't rush in to doing something that will make your current relationship permanent. Wait until after college to worry about marriage or kids, to make sure you two are still meant for each other after all of the experiences have changed you. But I'm happy for you to be in love at 16, and again no you are not to young to be.

Loving someone is a feeling, and we have no control over it. Being in love with someone is a choice to a certain extent, in that we have to decide to spend time with someone we are developing feelings for and let them know it. It can be a scary thing. Read some Q & A here and look at all the ones about why someone is so scared when they know they love someone else so much.

i totally agree. i am 17 an am totally in love with my boyfriend. i think people just say we are too young to love because they think that it involves sex.....just for the record, my boyfriend and i are both virgins, and plan to stay that way until we are married...we had conversations about it. but there is no age limit on love. but i do think there is a certain maturity level that needs to be reached before you are truly in love, one where you put the other person's well being and happiness before your own....but once you hit that level, it's bliss

of course there are very few exceptions, but there actually IS such a thing as being too young to really be in love.

awww..i know. but they thing is, to really LOVE somebody, 100% is to love every single thing about that person, which means you have to know every single thing about that person, which takes time. Time that you couldnt have possibly spent together already because you're only 16, know what i mean? Of course you can love somebody at that age, but not the way that you will when you're older, when you know yourself better and when you know your partner better. it's puppy love/crush, whatever. it's still real and it can still hurt like hell, but its different.

You say that now, but in 2 years when you're in college and you KNOW what these people mean, that's really the only way to explain this. You'll see first-hand.

You're not too young to be in love, but you're too young to think you've met your husband to be. It's not time to be thinking like that, you still have much to do before that time.
