When the trapped sebum and bacteria stay below your skin, you will get a whitehead. I suggest you go all-natural to get rid of your whiteheads fast. This is what finally worked for me after Proactiv, Nature's Cure, and Clearasil stopped working. Essential oils, natural herbs, and natural nutrients are the best way to kill whiteheads because they can penetrate the skin without tearing down the dermis. Fight nature by using nature. Essential oils are higher powered and more effective than any acid or peroxide created in a lab that was “derived” from some natural source. They are extremely potent and not harmful to your skin. Furthermore, they actually help to balance sebum without making your skin oily. The best product on the market that has essential oils and kills acne is Beauty 4 Ashes No More Shame 24 Hour Acne Eliminating Facial Kit. The makers claim that there stuff works overnight; and I have to say, it really does. In the two months that used it, my acne and scars literally disappeared. Best yet, in one year, my acne and blemishes have not returned and my pores have shrank. Beauty 4 Ashes has several skin care products created to treat acne, but I recommend ordering their kit first to get a bit of everything. You can find it online at www.discoverb4a.com.

Whiteheads are also known as closed comedones. They are sebaceous follicles that are filled with sebum, dead skin cell and bacteria. They have only a microscopic opening to the skin surface. Since the air cannot reach the follicle, the material is not oxidized, and remains white. A light yellow lump is formed. Another term for this is milium or milia for plural.
An OTC topical medication is usually recommended for those people with whiteheads or mild acne. Apply the topical medicine directly onto the whiteheds and any other affected area of the skin.
You can’t get rid of whiteheads or blackheads overnight. It takes time. If used regularly, OTC topical medicines can be reasonably effective. Be patient. It might take 8 weeks or more before you will notice any difference in your skin. Most treatments would several weeks or even months before you can see any noticeable change.
Common OTC acne medicines used to treat acne include benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, resorcinol and sulfur. Each of this works differently and has different effects on the acne.
Benzoyl peroxide is useful for a mild case of comedones. It can also help to prevent formation of more whiteheads.
The effects of benzoyl peroxide are:
Antibacterial – Destroys and inhibits the growth of acne bacteria
Decreases the chemical reaction that cause changes to the lining of the hair follicle. This may help reduce the plugging that causes comedones.
Resorcinol and sulfur help to break down comedones like whiteheads and blackheads.
In addition to breaking down whiteheads and blackheads, salicylic acid also helps to reduce the shedding of cells lining the follicles of the sebaceous glands.
Topical OTC acne medicines come in various forms. It could be in the form of a gel, a lotion, a cream, a soap or pads.
Tretinoin (Retin-A, Avita, Renova) is the chief ingredient used in treatment of whiteheads and blackheads. Tretinoin is a derivative of vitamin A.
The effects of tretinoin are:
Increases skin cell renewal
Reduces the "stickiness" of the sloughed cells
Causes expulsion of plugged material
Converts closed comedones into open comedones. The material in these newly converted open comedones can be easily extruded.
Extraction may be used by a health care provider on open comedones or blackheads. This process is performed using a device called a comedone extractor. This is a small, metal, circular instrument that is centered on the comedone and pushes down the surrounding skin, causing the plug to extrude.
I hope this was useful to you,Good Luck!!! :)

Using a good skin care regimen would be a good start. I would recommend Skinlogics from BeautiControl. It contains some salicylic acid but not as much as an acne skin care system....like All Clear from BeautiControl. Both contain a cleanser, scrub, tonic and moisturizer.
I can give you more information if you are interested....or you can visit their website.
"Skin Care
The key to skin care for acne is consistency. An overnight cure has not been found. But using good skin care methods aids in the daily, steady improvement of follicle health. Since acne is not caused by eating certain foods, restricting the diet is not helpful. Since it is also not caused by "dirty" skin, excessively scrubbing does not help and can even make the skin more irritated. The best skin care for comedones consists of once-a-day cleansing with a mild soap or facial scrub to aid in the removal of excess sebum and dead skin cells. Oil-based makeup should not be used since these can contribute to the buildup of oil in the follicles. Water-based makeup labeled as non-comedogenic can be used safely." - http://dermatology.about.com/cs/acnecomedones/a/comedones_2.htm

go to the drug store
buy some needles that the diabetic people use
after you come out of the shower.. gently prick your skin
take off only the top layer.. don't prick hard.. this shouldn't hurt
then take two tissues and wrap them around your index finger and gently remove the white heads
every time you prick your skin.. wipe the needle clean with alcohol so you don't spread bacteria
also dab some alcohol on your open wound
