Congratulations! How exciting!
And how scary! Talk your time with the name.
My mother, and several other mothers and fathers have said that they just "knew" the name when their children were born - they'd had several, but one just fitted - you could see it on their face :)
I was called Lucy, because all of the "Lucy"'s my parents knew were the nicest people they'd ever met!
Just don't make it toooo unusual, it's THEIR name after all, which they will be living with.
Maybe find a cute a name, that has a nice nick name with that that they'd enjoy. I'd love to have a Nick-name! :(
Hope it all goes well! :)

When I have kids, mine are going to be called Grace-Lucy / Jack / Charlie or Charlotte. Cool names, not unusual, but all have a special meaning as theyre named after someone special in mine and hubbys lives. I dont think anyone can decide for you but it looks like youre getting lots of great ideas from here! Hope the birth goes well xx

It's good to have a list of a few names, maybe ones that are good for both boys and girls (Jamie/Jaime or Kieran/Kira) and meet the baby and see what you think.
There is no harm in taking a few days to name your child. Take the stress away from the search and the answer will come!
We used the Beatles for inspiration and now have a wonderful daughter Sadie and son Harrison.
Best of luck with your new baby.
Cheers,
K

Pick a name that is important to you. Don't pick one that is too far out either. One of my friends from high school was named Quastaia (Pronounced Quas tay ah). I'm glad my family picked an average name for me that will fit at any age. Can you picture a Grandmother Tiffany?
One of my friends had a little girl and her grandmother's name was Helen and she wanted to name her baby after the grandmother but thought that Helen was too old ladish. She spelled it backwards and named the baby Neleh (Pronounced Knee lee ah). I thought that was cute.
Be creative (but not too creative) and give your baby a good name. Names are very important.
One idea, my aunt passed away last June and my cousin found out she was pregnant two days before my Aunt Linda died. She found out she was having a little girl and she named her Kora Lin (Lin after my aunt.) Do something relatively normal and spell it differently. She spelled Kora with a K because her other child is a little boy named Kolter.
Kolter Garrett Kilgore and Kora Lin Kilgore.
I hope this helps and gives you some ideas.

My son is named Caden. Everyone always says that is very different and unusual. I heard of someone with a girl name Kayden, so I guess it could go either way. For a girl name, which I never had, but loved the name, Rhiannon. I also like Avery for a girl. Good luck to you!

I have an unusual name and i love being unique, a good choice. I would go for Abish, Asenath, zipporah, Soriah, Eve, Keturah, shiphrah, or Zilpah for a girl and Jared, Nephi, limhi, Alma, Ammon or Helamen for a boy. All the best.

I agree with lots of the other answers here already. Try to find something meaningful, maybe the name of a special friend, or something from your family history - both my kids have middle names 'borrowed' from other members of our family, it's a powerful reminder of the ones who came before them - some of whom died before they were born, but whose genes are mixed in with theirs.
Another idea is to come up with a quality you hope your child will have, and pick a name that holds that meaning. e.g. ANA, CHANA, TRIANNA, and WAN all mean 'gracious', and AARON, DHIREN, ETHAN, and FEARGHUS all mean 'strong.'
And please don't be tempted to go for something that's too unusual, for starters, who knows what names are about to become all the rage?! But also, it could lead to bullying in childhood. Later on in their life, studies have shown that although an unusual name can be an advantage for things like making your job application stand out, it can also go against you if a prospective employer feels it's unpronounceable or incredibly weird. It's funny, but there's a lot in a name!

You could wait to see what exact time and date your baby is born. See if there is a holiday.
For Example - If the baby is a BOY and born on May 1st. Pick you favorite Mother Goose character, its Mother Goose Day. If its a GIRL and born on May 6. Call her Suzette. It is National Crepe Suzette Day.
