Oh yes those help a lot and not only help the person you smiled or said a kind word to but then it goes on down the line to the next person and so on.

Yes. I know when I'm having a rough day, and my hubby comes home from work and gives me a smile and a hug, I feel much better. And the smile of a child can always make you smile!! Sometimes, being kind will you get a lot further with someone then being mean or rude. I know if someone asks me to do something with a smile and in a polite manner, I'm a lot more inclined to do what they want. But, I do think that the kindness has to be genuine. You can just act like you are kind, you have to really show you are.

Sometimes, as a mom, it's hard for me to be kind all the time. I get into moments when the kids are doing something wrong, and I just want to yell at them. I have to stop and think about what I say, and how I say it. They are more likely to listen if I speak softly to them, then if I'm yelling my head off. I think the same applies for adults too. I've heard that we teach people how to treat us. If we are teaching them that we only listen when they are mean, that's all we'll get.

If I'm really having a bad day, or a bad week, I try to think of something nice to do for a neighbor, like bake cookies or bread and just leave it on their doorstep. I know I brightened their day, and in so doing, I have also brightened mine. It helps to take away that yucky feeling when I'm upset or mad at something.. that and baking calms me down!! Anyone up for brownies?? ;)

As a teacher, I encourage my students to practice at least two RAKs a day ( Random Acts of Kindness). That could be picking up a piece of litter or holding the door for someone..... or just giving a smile or pat on the back to someone who looks like they could use some reassurance. Little things do indeed count.

Absolutely! A kind word can push a person away from feeling self-destructive (maybe even literally)! A smile can put a person in a good mood and make them feel like being kinder to others. We should do every little thing we can.

When you release warm, positive energy into the universe through a smile or a kind word, that positive energy will come back to you amplified in one way or another. It's a universal law. Even the small stuff counts!

Small acts of kindness can bring joy to people's lives everyday. Just by smiling you just made some body's day. Someone could be having a really rough day, and you helping them or smiling at them could make their day much more better. It has helped me, when someone i don't know smiles just because, they don't know me, but they smile anyway.

Yes, because people tend to follow what they see. It adds up...from the simple courtesy of holding a door open for the stranger behind us, or allowing a car ahead of us into traffic, to picking trash up from the street we live on...to volunteering at a shelter. We live in, thus create, a society, a civilization, but we seem to act as if we have no control, no power over how this society behaves, or how it may survive into something our grandchildren can be proud of.

Yes. Both to the giver and receiver. And whoever receives from the 1st receiver. It's a ripple effect, like a pebble in the water.
