Anyone know of language(s)that are easier to speak than to write and vice versa. I think Spanish is the easiest to speak and write. Hongul is the hardest, in my experience. What do you think?

I have many ESL friends, and they all agree English is the most difficult to learn. Other contenders are Mandarin and Icelandic. I suppose it's difficult to measure something like that, since peoples' learning styles are so individual.

I trust korean queen approximately the letters, it is truthfully very handy to study to learn/write the alphabet, there are whatever like 24 letters handiest... MUCH simpler than chinese language/jap in my view =) I've been taking korean for mixed four yrs and when you've studied different languages then you have already got a leg up. in view that you stated you've got studied french and dutch then no less than you are no longer going into it and not using a language historical past and no longer know-how that wow there are different languages except english!!! =) investigate nearby neighborhood schools round you and even korean cultural facilities (that is wherein I'm taking it now) and simply do a little introductory publications and spot the way you find it irresistible. even investigate out a few library books or language aids. I've given you the hyperlink to the cultural middle in LA when you are living local. well good fortune!

I tried to learn Russian, that was rough, couldn't follow through. Too many unfamiliar sounds. Spanish was easiest to learn for me, it was my minor in college, and the first foreign language I learned. Italian was harder to learn,I took several semesters of it as an elective, it was easier for me than some because I already knew Spanish. I think it is easier to learn a new language when you already know one foreign language.

In my opinion languages where you have to learn to speak, listen and read in symbols such as Chinese, Japanese or Arabic ones are the most difficult to learn. It will also depend in how much close or far could be those cultures from the western culture we belong..

The easier languages are those that are similar to our own first language. For example, for an english speaker, german an dutch are easier than italian and french. And for an english speaker, italian and french are easier than japanese or korean. For a japanese speaker, korean or vietnamese are easier than english, spanish or italian.
