Because of Christians' bad behavior, obviously.
I'm very tolerant of others' faiths. But many of the Christians here use their faith as nothing more than an excuse for immoral behavior. In fact it seems that the dominant activity of Christians on R&S is lying about atheists and Muslims. However, today there's also a special on "using tragedy to promote one's personal religious beliefs".
When the Christians stop acting like amoral children, the "bashing" will stop.

I'm fine with someone believing something I don't, but as a bisexual and a Pagan, I encounter very rude and noisy people trying to get me out of my life and act more like them, or at least make my life difficult. Those people call themselves "Christians," for the most part. And that's when I get angry. I am pleased to see Christians who are not that way, and hope more speak out here and elsewhere.

Theists, especially christians, try to control and restrict us based on their views. If all christians stop crusading against science, culture, art, sex and sexuality, religious freedom and such, and stop telling everybody else they're going to be tortured throughout eternity unless they join you, I assure you that you won't encounter nearly as much hostility.
And, of course, religion is irrational and harmful.

George W. Bush....the War on Iraq...not enough separation of church and state
And Christians don't hold the market on being victims of intolerance, for sure.

They're not stupid, but it may be foolish to believe in magic sky daddies, talking snakes, and magical fruit. Intelligence isn't the end-all when it comes to being irrational (ie, foolish).
Christians have enslaved, killed, and burned people at the stake. I think they can handle a few meanie words.

Word is you only tolerate if its politically correct.
Being religious in any shape or form is not 'in' therefore those that have faith will be harassed, put down, have churches vandalized. Sure sounds like hate crime to me.

I think a lot of us Christians bring it on ourselves. I don't mind people bashing us, but I can't stand people blaspheming; that's taking it too far.

Millenia of persecution by Christians, the strength to speak up, the freedom to finally do something about it.
