My son has been sick at night time running fever, sluggish, sore throat, ear ache. But the day I made the dr appt. he acted fine, he didn't "act sick". Do drs. think you are lying when you go in there, or do they understand and not think you are a complete moran?

Part of that could be an adrenelin type reaction, particularly if the child has a fear of physicians. Docs are aware that children's symptoms can present themselves quite differently than those of adults. Most don't consider their patients' parents to be "liars" or "morons".

If your child's symptoms aren't apparent during the visit, but sure to present the doc with a log of symptoms that you've noticed. Include times, severity, and any precipitants that come to mind.

Kids are unpredictable little creatures. Docs know this.

No worries :)

Hope your kidlet feels better soon,

I think they are accustomed to concerned parents and it is their job so dont worry about that. Better to take your child in than not. We go through so much when they are sick and then they bounce right back and we age tremendously! If the symptoms persist at night then just state that to Dr saying he is fine during the day always. Might be otitis media but they anatomically outgrow that usually with time and after some antibiotics but I would say do keep in touch with your Doctor if you are worried. Thats what moms do-worry!

That happens to people of all ages, not just kids. Who knows why, could be that there home from school, and Wow,their outside going someplace !Most of us have done the same thing, call a Dentist with an excruciating toothache, get to the office and the thing stops aching.Very possible its a mental thing, after feeling so miserable for several days, make the appointment, get ready to go,and by magic you feel better !Most illnesses are self limiting and do recover without medications,or intervention. No medical staff don't get mad, they see it everyday,it's happens to them too. Take care. SW FNP
