I have read and even answered several that I just had a feeling were quite frankly lies. What would dirve a person to lie to make Christians sound bad?Oh! I know they want to make no-believers sound better but why tell an out right lie?

Here is an example. " I was forced to Listen by 6 different Christian Groups over the holidays." Forced? How? I don't believe it! This is just one example! Just one!

John 3:19
And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

Jesus said that each man will give an account for every idle word they utter. I'll leave it in His hands to deal with them. I just look for the true seekers. Do not feed trolls.

Matthew 12:36
Jesus said, "But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment."

I haven't seen any lies-I think what you're referring to is when a non-believer will tell something w/o the frills and when it's compared to the Christian teaching, you then think it's a lie. As in, a Christian will teach that communion is about eating 'bread' (usually some sort of cracker) and drinking (either a bit of grape juice or wine) in remembrance of the last supper. A non-Christian will say (especially a non-Catholic) that symbolic eating of flesh and blood is cannibalism. And Jesus does say 'This is my flesh/blood. Eat/Drink this in remembrance of me'
Or, you could be referring to the belief that Jesus and Mary Magdalene were married. TRUTH is, no one can say for sure. Does it say ANYWHERE that Jesus was not married? Saying he wasn't married to her could be as much of a 'lie' as saying he was. Either, with any certainty, could be classified as a lie.
I think someone listed a couple of web-sites listing lies the church has told over the years. After all this time, do you really think anything is one-sided?

Mostly I see this when someone comes on pretending to be a Muslim. I don't really see it that much in Christianity. If I see some off the wall thing said by someone who says they are a Christian I just lump them with the Fundies and write them off.

Some people are very angry at the church and many times their anger is justified. What they don’t realize is that spreading around more anger will not make them feel any better in the long run.

That being said, the Christian church and particularly the conservatives have been known to really treat people badly.

However, some people are just jerks and enjoy causing other people pain.

I, for one, know that what I say is never a lie, but, considering the selfish -living-in-denial- views of many Christians, they would label all I say to be farce and folly, and like shep will refuse to even consider my POV.

Many christians, when viewed from the outside of their gibbering, chattering flock, make themselves look bad- it is true..

You get people like that in every religion, even atheists do it, sometimes..

But, it is ever so prolific in Christians, as they are inclined to be one of the most forceful when it comes to 'sharing' their religious word..

Christians do the same to us, by he way- don't point a finger, or thre more will come pointing back at you..

'Is it just me, or do all atheists seem to be very lonely, unhappy people?'

Try again, in your putting us down, love..

You must understand that this is what Jesus promised His followers. We were warned. It's nothing new.

"How blessed are you whenever people insult you, persecute you, and say all sorts of evil things against you falsely because of me! Rejoice and be extremely glad, because your reward in heaven is great! For that's how they persecuted the prophets who came before you." (Matthew 5:11-12)

During early church times, it was a common rumor that churches participated in cannibalism, because they ate their Lord's body and drank His blood. (Referring to communion.) Yet people would get over their preconceived notions when they saw the Christian's living out their transformed lives before them, and then become Christians themselves.

We are only responsible to Jesus Christ about how we live our lives. No one in R & S has the power to change your salvation, and any buffeting you receive here can only strrengthen you on your journey.

"if the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is it's own. Now, because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, the world hates you."

"you will be objects of hatred because of my name."

But do not forget.."in case my own mother and my own father would leave me, Jehovah himself would take me up."

...and enduring all this is a gift to God, in that "Be wise my son and make my heart rejoice, that I may make a reply to him that is taunting me."

Remember, too, that we know God see's it all, and knows when they..."lyingly say every sort of wicked thing about you for my sake." because in this same way..."they persecuted the prophets prior to you."

We are pressed from all sides, but not with no way out...and it can't last forever! =D

It's an open board. People say all kinds of things about all kinds of groups. Sorry, but christians aren't the only ones picked on. To be fair I'd have to say muslims are the biggest target, then Atheists. Christians are down the list.

Why don't you go read some questions posted by non-Christians and see the vitriolic responses given by your so-called Christians. The crap goes both ways.

I'll admit people tell lies about christians when christians can admit they celebrate my pagan holidays using their god as an excuse.
