accepting christ as your savior or your faith? so often i keep getting told to accept christ as my savior, but wouldn't that mean i would have to have some sort of faith in him to begin with. my faith is built on trust. and i'm sorry to say i've never seen anything done by christ to earn my trust. please, i know everyone wants to throw john 3:16 at me. but i just don't buy that story. i'm glad you do, though. i trust in my family and my friends. when i ask for help they are there. and their help is not open for interpretation. so this brings me back to my question. do you accept jesus as your savior first and then grow faith on that. or are there events in your life which have occurred that make you have faith that there is a god, and then you accept jesus?

channiek, but if i don't believe in god why should i pray to him. it's not like i haven't believed in god at one time in my life. i just don't anymore. but i know personally when i did believe accepting came first, whether it was by my own accord or my parents wishes.

I was raised by Christian parents and church was a regular thing starting from childhood. However, at an early age I had an unexplainable urge to accept Christ as my savior. Not pushed by my parents, I did accept Him. My faith has increased not because I had all the answers to my questions but because I have open mindedly studied the life of Christ and I have found that regardless of how some present logic, and try to explain away the mysteries of God, Christ and the whole creation story, they can't do it. I have watched very educated men and women try and many of them have actually turned to Christianity in their efforts to disprove it. Taking all into consideration, I have come to the conclusion that since it can't be disproved and since the commands of
Christ tend to make society better, I trust that His story is accurate enough to demand my attention. As far as you trusting your friends,,,,,I trusted many of mine and some of my family. In fact, some that I would die for. But don't pretend that you can put all your trust in any man. You will find disapointment at some point in your life.

Well... faith is blind. so you don't have to believe Jesus (PBUH) is God, because he's not... listen ask God to guide you. For me i lost my faith and then when i went to the middle east it came back, but i wanted God to pop out and say i'm here believe in me, well that didn't happen but alot of other "strange" things happen and i believe...

You then begin to grow in grace by studying & sitting under the authority of a good teaching pastor

You have to Believe that He is and seek Him. He rewards the seeker with His truth with faith and salvation.. Jim
Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

It's good point.

I certainly can't accept something into my heart that I find ridiculous.
