I recently started jogging a 1/2 mile or doing 40 situps every evening. I'm have a lot of weight to lose, and I was told for my weight this is a good start. I've noticed that my thighs seem to be the part of me that requires the most work (even more than my man-boobs ;D). Are there any exercises I can do without a workout machine to tone my thighs?

(And to the smartass that's going to tell me to stop eating, I beat you to it moron. I've cut my caloric intake by almost a third and cut my sugars and fats almost completely. :P)

you cant choose which body part to lose the weight off - it has to be overall weight loss. your thighs are just one part your body likes to store its fat reserves.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
dont try to lose more than 1-2lbs a week - its not healthy to lose more.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried - no junk food.

Squats are great... and yes, it is hard to lose weight in the thighs but cardio by far is one of the best ways without machines. Besides, building muscle will increase the size for awhile... my sis-in-law wanted to lose her thighs and after 6 weeks at Farrells she actually gained inches in her thighs but that was because the muscles had increased, she wasn't very happy. Just give it time, keep it up and be patient. Congratulations on you decision for the life change and best of luck to you.

legs are always my battle. jogging is good but you could probably do a little more of it. a gym membership isn't a bad idea but i take it your opposed to that. step-ups, lunges, and squats are great. you can do those while holding weights. i do them with about 3 pounds in each hand but depending on you you may need heavier weights. do 12 to 20 reps. another thing are wall sits. gradually work yourself upto 5 minutes of wall sits.

FIrst off..congrats on getting started.
You can do squats and lunges. Both are great for the legs and butt. This will also increase your stamina for running which you should keep up with because its a great way to trim down fast.
Good luck and keep it going!
