An eternal being dies via crucifixion and gives up 3 days to save all of humanity from eternal torment?
A human professor gives up his only life to help students escape with their lives? (Calhoun said that the two students behind him were shot, but that he believed they survived. Just before he climbed out the window, Calhoun said, he turned to look at his professor, who had stayed behind, apparently to prevent the gunman from opening the door. The instructor was killed, Calhoun said.) http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070417/ap_on_re_us/virginia_tech_shooting
So...who makes the bigger sacrifice?

Well, considering the fact that jesus is a fictional character from a 2000+ year old fairy tale book i would say that the professor gets my vote for biggest sacrifice in the aid of humankind.
But, for the sake of argument, let's say jesus is real...... I will still put my vote in for the professor because jesus doesn't save everyone. he only saves those who follow his ways. The professor gave his life to save students who he may have had different views on religion/life as he... yet he didn't think twice about making sure they got out alive!

That's so obvious!
First of all, an ETERNAL being? 3 days to save all of humanity from eternal torment...a little late for that, isn't it? Look at our eternal location now (if you can). Geez....
I was taught he was a man, just like you.
Secondly, the professor is the most obvious choice - we actually know about him!
What do YOU think?

Well, the answer to me is easy. Christ sacrificed for ALL of mankind, even the gunman, and brought about the atonemetn for the entire world.
Neverthe less, the professor who sacficied will also be recognized by God. It has been said "Greater alove hath no man than this, that a man lay down his blife for his cfriends."

I have to say, the way you put it, the professor.
BUT YOU HAVE A FLAW!!! Jesus was 100% man and 100% God. SO... Jesus was MAN when He died on the cross. He sufferede worse becasuse He felt the same way we would have if we were crucified.
But what that professor did was pretty great. I hope he gets a great reward for what he did.

Hiya Lippie! I'm on a news fast. I'm only reading the news at the end of the day, once. I don't want to saturate my thoughts with death and violence, but I do want to stay informed.

The biggest sacrifice a human being can do is to put his life in danger to protect others, even if that means that he is gonna die. R.I.P.

Maybe it's a tie? The sacrifice that is, but not the men.
