sounds like it
(watch for streaks or dark hole in center...if you see either go to the doc right away)
until then~ you can take some benadryl by mouth and apply the a benadryl cream to the bite to help relieve the swelling, itching, and redness
just watch it closely

it might be a brown recluse, or it might be a staph infection. SO many people mistake staph infections for spider bites. don't squeeze it, keep it clean and don't mess with it. if it gets worse, GO SEE A DOCTOR asap. its not worth risking it. try googling "staph infection" and look at the images, maybe thats more of what you have. i had a bad sore that sounds similar to that and i thought it was a spider bite but it turned out to be a staph infection. i had to take antibiotics prescribed by the doctor to make it go away. i'm not saying you DON'T have a spider bite, but usually brown recluse bites come with more symptoms, like fever and muscle pain. here is a list of brown recluse bite symptoms: * burning, pain, itching, or redness at the site which is usually delayed and may develop within several hours or days of the bite * a deep blue or purple area around the bite, surrounded by a whitish ring and large red outer ring similar to a "bulls eye" * an ulcer or blister that turns black * headache, body aches * rash * fever * nausea or vomiting if you don't have ANY of these and its only painful around the sore, i'd say a staph infection :) whatever it is, i hope you get better!

If there is no tissue death around the site of the blister, it sounds more like a staph infection (boil). If the red is extending out, though, or is hot to the touch, you need to go to a doctor ASAP, as this indicates an infection.
A spider bite usually causes localized necrosis of the tissues (a black area around the initial wound).

Yes, possibly. Put a circle around it with a permanent marker and watch it for the next few hours. If it's worsenning rapidly go to the ER.
Some spider bites like that of the brown recluse spider can be serious.

It really depends on where you are geographically. Yes, some spiders can cause symptoms as you describe, however, it could be many other things. Not to worry you, but it could possible be a bite from a disease-infected fly, such as a tsetse fly. However, if you aren't in Sub-Saharan Africa or South America, its not very likely. I would suggest seeing your doctor, as it can only be diagnosed by direct examination.
Note*If this is a personal problem for you, I strongly suggest you see a doctor before taking any action, as a problem can only be properly resolved by direct examination by a phsyician.

That is a big spider bite, you should really get it checked out by a doctor. Just in case, you never know it could be a bite from a poisonous spider

That could be a spider bite... but it also sounds like a staph infection. Either way you really need to get to a doctor as soon as possible.

Go to the doctor. Many spider bites leaves a dual side by side puncture wound.

could be a spider bite or a blood blister. Some skin my have gotten pinched by something and you didn't realize it. It could also be an infected hair follicle.

I am not sure but it gives me more clues as to the irritating spot on the back of my neck right at the top of the spine. It looks like that too. I scratched it as I do every itchy and it's way worse. Taking Aleves but ask your pharmacist or DR first. Also washing with hydrogen peroxide & covering with Neosporin & Bandaid.
Good luck.
