Off the streets; a possibility why the serial numbers were filed off. State officials also said that he was a legal alien with a green card which means he could possess a fireman. He did have a receipt for a Glock 9.

Well, first he was a LEGAL resident of the United States.
The next question (unanswered yet) is whether his GUNS (plural) were:
a) actually owned by HIM or b) borrowed / stolen.
IF owned by him: a) legally purchased or b) illegally purchased.
CHECK on the gun laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia for specific information.
As best as I've heard... BOTH his handguns were "legal" as opposed to banned. I DREAD the crap that will come about in the near-future regarding "gun-control".
It's not the GUNS... it's the social failures !! We don't strap murderers into the chair QUICKLY after conviction anymore. NOTE that Texas has a lower per-capita gun-murder rate than most other large states.

As a legal permanent resident he can purchase a fire arm. A non-citizen can legally "posses" but not own a fire-arm if he/she has a hunting or sports (like an Olympic competitor for example) license or permit.

don't you people watch the news? jeez. he bought them legally with his own money. one at a gun shop one at a pawn shop. he was a resident alien with a green card, essentially a citizen. and why does it matter that he was a "south korean"? what matters is that he was able to walk in and get them at all. wtg virginia.
