The Bible warns us not to trust in astrology.
In another online Bible study, I summarized God's warning in the Bible about astrology, the occult, mediums, divination and sorcery.

The main problem with these practices is that they cause us to look to other sources of "power," not to God himself. God created everyone alive. He loves us, and wants a close personal relationship with us. When we get caught up with "spiritual" ideas, we often think we are seeing the bigger picture when in fact we miss God himself.

God is not simply a "force," an idea or a nebulous spirit. He is real, and his passionate love for you is real.

God communicated his message of love through Jesus. Jesus' message of love is very different from that of the many "New Age" religions and schools of thought

The Bible does predict cataclysmic future events.
God's Word (the Bible) tells us that someday Jesus will return to earth. Momentous things will happen that day. We are encouraged to live lives worthy of God and to be ready for that day.
The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord (Acts 2:20).

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare (2 Peter 3:10).
But the Bible also tells us that no one knows when that day will take place. Numerous people have claimed to know and have been proven wrong. It shouldn't be a surprise that they were wrong, because the Bible says no one knows. December 21, 2012 (or December 12, 2012) is no more likely than any other day to be the day when Jesus returns or when anything else of significance happens.
No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father (Matthew 24:36).

God loves you and doesn't want you to worry about the Dec. 21, 2012 predictions. Instead, he wants you to enter into an intimate relationship with him and to grow in his Spirit. Don't get distracted! Instead, "Come near to God and he will come near to you" (James 4:8).

whether it heralds a sparkling initiating or an abrupt end is open to hypothesis. some do say that the subsequent Pope is prophesied to be the final earlier the Judgment. The Vatican holds very heavily to the Prophecy of St. Malachy. This Medieval Monk had particular visions of 112 Popes till Doomsday, additionally oftentimes occurring through fact the Biblical Apocalypse. the present Pope, Benedict XVI is the 111th named Pope, in straight forward terms one Pope continues to be so the date 12-21-12 may be an quite significant date to the Judgement day. i've got not got self belief that worldwide warming will top by using the twelve months 2012 so no, we will not fry in 2012.

2012 is beyond your understanding. It's too complicated to explain, but it's not about the end of the world it's about the end of a calendar that began before Christianity- not even the end, because it starts over. The end of the world, the apocalypse or rapture or whatever is a Christian concept. 2012 isn't a Christian prediction. It's far older than Christianity. I repeat, it has nothing to do with the end of the world.

However, I do recall a certain astrological prediction that Christians talk alot about. Something about a really bright star over a little Middle Eastern town... Seems when people believe stuff that strongly any old kid born under a star can make history.

The Mayan calendar going from 12 to 13 Baktuns has NOTHING to do with Jesus or the Bible or indeed any religious. I am not exactly sure why or when people have decided to graft all kinds of Christian and apocalypse stories onto this rather innocous date of 12-21-2012. It's just a shift in energy.

It's not Astrology. One of the three Mayan Calendars ends (and also begins) on that date.

This nonsense is just some old white guys trying to make money exploiting indigenous peoples stuff, out of context as usual.

2012 is not astrology.

It is merely the last date on the Mayan calendar. The Mayan culture makes no predictions for this date nor does it explain why the calendar stops on this date. It just happens to be the last year of the calendar.

Some interpret this to mean the world will end. This is pure speculation.

This is actually the best part of your post. "God loves you and doesn't want you to worry about the Dec. 21, 2012 predictions. Instead, he wants you to enter into an intimate relationship with him and to grow in his Spirit. Don't get distracted! Instead, "Come near to God and he will come near to you" (James 4:8)." I agree this is truly what he/she/it wants for us. How we realize and put this into action matters not imo. No matter your path.

Okay, I'll take what you've said on board, but I have it on the impeccable authority of an R&S Christian that the December 2012 date is the official date for the End of Days.

What with them being a Christian, I know they wouldn't lie to me. That'd be bad.

Guess I don't know whether to believe anything Christians here tell me, now.

I agree you can play around with dates like this but the prophets of doom and gloom will always see more than is actually there.
