Of course it bothers me. Except the freight train, tornadoes do sound like freight trains, it is the best possible description. Otherwise, yes, the heightened level of denial in our society is very disturbing to me.
For example, all the people who said they "no longer felt safe." after 9/11. Americans blew up a building in Oklahoma and our own children are shooting each other. Why did we ever feel safe.

I do not know any specifics in this case. and while it cannot be assumed that every grown man would molest or otherwise abuse a young girl the only thing I can say about it is that the mother apparently misjudged the man, ot takes too little responsibility in raising and protecting her daughter. Does it bother me? Not really. Any particular case that I know specifics about would, but in general I've known for a long time that these things happen, and I'm not bothered by knowing that they do.

I saw your question out of the corner of my eye and it sounded like a freight train, I never thought something like that could happen here. I looked at your screen name and thought he is a great guy he would never do something like that.
I don't have a daughter, but my older, recently divorced sister's.... and, no, let's not go there....
Great question. Shame I'm not up to doing it the justice it deserves, as I think "never underestimate the power of human stupidity" is such a trite answer.

It a hard thing to say. First you should know that person that you let your young daugher hang out with.
I have a friend who is a single mom and she has three daughter and a son. Age ranging from 4-16. I take the older two by themself to Hockey and baseball games. I also take the little ones for ice cream. I even watch them for her. I love them like they are my own. If anyone would hurt them I do not know what I would do.
So if my friend would go by what you say, then I would never be able to. But I think your point should be that you should know that person well.

Any version of "All i choose for For Christmas is My 2 front tooth" the place a grown guy tries to sound like slightly boy. Ditto with "i'm Gettin' Nothin' For Christmas." that's like nails on a chalkboard. ***further: Oh, and the comparable is authentic for "I observed Mommy Kissing Santa Claus." especially plenty every time an grownup impacts a cutesy kiddie voice, i pass to get aggravated.

it is a question of trust in people and allowing your children to grow up
you cant keep them on your apron strings but at the same time i just think it is sad world we live in when people cant control them selves as a grown person they should know better and show some self restraint

Absolutely! Whenever there`s a catastrophe, the media heads straight for the fat bubba in the wife beater shirt, & his toothless wife in the moo moo & curlers. That`s entertainment.

Many people need to relearn to read the signs of danger and smell the scent of death hovering over.
The media and religion have turned many into witless strawmen.

We get tired of it too...I guess people expect to have "some clue" as to who and what is around them.
Its frightening to think that someone you sat next to in the cafeteria, could be harboring such mayhem.
It seems the people we think are strange,or odd...are not actually the ones to be wary of!

many parents do not take responsibility for their children like they used to back 20-30 years or more.... they think that 'letting their child do what they want' makes the kid happy and therefore less trouble for the parent. what kids need is guidelines and rules and responsibility... they need parents who hold them accountable.
there are many people who 'seem nice' but are like wolves waiting to attack
