It's because there's an empty spot in their lives that they know deep down inside, only God can fill. They're trying to fill the void. Keep searching and you'll find the truth.

Irish - that's all well and good, but it was still not a question. It isn't one now. You're simply observing and remarking. Furthermore. Many of us here do not bash. I find it childish myself, and it makes us all look bad to call names and tell people they're stupid for what they do or do not believe. It's important to me to be here - religion plays a huge part in my life. My boyfriend is a Christian, his mother is Evangelical.... UFO's? Not so much. But I am interested in them, so I would go to a board where that was discussed. I am interested in what makes Christians do and say and believe what they do. I'm not here to find God - I've tried that. I'm not here to bash, though I do make fun sometimes. I'm a no-bashing, no-name-calling advocate. If we want to present arguments like adults, then that sort of thing is useless and incendiary. I can't stay away because it is a fascinating look at the human condition in all it's forms.
Sorry I made fun of your spelling - but we see a lot of questions here everyday by Christians calling us stupid for not believing, and it's rare when they spell atheist correctly. I'm sure you can see how ludicrous that is.

The differance is that a lot of people who believe what you believe do not follow what the majority of the people would call good morals. Due to your belief in such a god things like this happen. When you believe in UFO's you don't kill/beat gays or bad mouth them. Nor do you bomb abortion clinics. It's just bad judgment and lack of education and you are allowed to vote for someone to run the biggest super power in the world. No sir, there are no similiarities between UFO boards and this one.

UFO is not a hoax. There is no proof. People are not believing in it to cause them to go insane. But religion on the other hand, is a problem worth discussing. This board is supported by atheists so religious people can come here everyday and expect some worthwhile discussions.

the reason in the back of the universe is a random vacuum fluctuation interior the singularity. the reason in the back of the singularity might desire to have been a great give way. The universe did no longer precisely "initiate". it is merely an adventure. A play starts off while the curtain rises, even nevertheless it does no longer mean there wasn't something there in the previous that 2nd. The omniverse grew to become into recent in the previous the great Bang. The omniverse does not have a commencing up, for this reason it has no reason. It has existed for eternity. that's attainable that it will ultimately run out of steam. So, in spite of the shown fact that it is existed for an eternity it does no longer mean it is going to final for eternity. even nevertheless, you would be wanting to assume that it would desire to have had adequate time to run out of steam, yet it incredibly is obviously no longer authentic. we are right here. So, in case you want to assume it is going to ultimately run out of steam, ok.

If UFO's dictated how you should live your life... say aliens left a book on earth about the way you should do this or that... and you didn't believe in aliens or UFO's wouldn't you be trying to halt the advance of people pushing alien's policies on earth?

The difference is that people who believe in UFOs are not trying to tell other folk that if *they* do not believe in UFOs they are going to hell. They do not print anything about UFOs on currency, nor force kids to recite a verse mentioning UFOs when they are in school.
I am an atheist. I am here because I am interested in matters of religion and spirituality, since the reality is that these things affect my life whether I wish them to or not. I am also here to make sure my voice is heard, and the people who are in the majority in this country do not forget that theirs is not the *only* path.

If UFO believers were trying to enforce UFO teachings at school and were lobbing to have their brand of morality legislated, I'd be responding to to their post as well. Also UFO believer posts about aliens creating life or other events that changed human history, would deserve comments as well along with UFO pseudo-science posted as truth.

This section is not about believers or non-believers per say. It is about discussion and participation in religious and spiritual matters and that includes arguements for and against.
You can assign whatever motives you wish to other people's actions according to what you believe about God. It does not make it true.
Does that mean that creationists who constantly visit science sections or Christians who visit pagan sections or straight people who visit gay and lesbian sections are SECRETLY wanting to convert to those things as well?

If believers in UFOs were in the majority in my society...
If they were to make assumptions and false statements about those of us who don't believe in UFOs...
If the mere act of admitting that I don't believe in UFOs inspired fear and hatred...
then, yes, I'd spend a similar amount of time on the UFO forum.
