theres 16 ounces in a pound so 1 1/2 pounds would be 40 ounces....or 5 cups (8 ounces in a cup)....at least thats how i would do it...just remember very few recipes except you to be EXACT...the only time you really have to worry about being very precise is with stuff like salt, baking soda, baking powder because those can be overpowering and make your dish taste terrible if you put way too much in.

Go to the produce section of a supermarket and grab a plastic bag, then use the store's scale to weigh out 1 1/2 pounds of potatoes. Because only Idaho baked potatoes are consistently about the same size, and not any other type, weigh them is the only way to get what you want.

If they potatoes are the big ones like the ones you use for baked potatoes then probably 3, but if they are smaller then 5
