Check out "How to React to Someone who Stutters" in the brochure section at www.stutteringhelp.org. Several of my uncles and cousins used to stutter. They all got help with "Self Therapy for the Stutterer" published by the Stuttering Foundation. They said it took lots of practice and goind through the book and working on each step until they mastered it, but it was worth it. Only one uncle also went to a speech therapist who specialized in treating stuttering.

I can`t imagine that EVERYONE takes the michael out of him - just like on here - the odd few with nothing better to do and not many brain cells. ( they`re the ones who`ll probably end up having a child like this one day ) Let him finish what he`s saying and slowly he will become more confident with you. If he`s really fit - wheeeeeeeeyyyyyy
- what more do you want !!!!!
(why so many stuttering answers ? It got old after the first one.....)

Unless you can read his mind, stop trying to finish his sentences. Be sensitive to his difficulties. He KNOWS he has a problem He is probably embarrassed somewhat about it as well. Ignore it as best you can. Sometimes, it may be just SO hard to understand him, you might have to apologize for not understanding. If you take the blame, even though it is not your fault, it really WILL be easier on him. It will help to put him at ease, which will help his control of his speech. Remember, he know his limitations and frustration only makes his control over his speech that much more difficult. Be patient. Be nice. Be polite.

you have to let him get through it, ending his sentences brings more attention to it and stops him working through it so you actually are making his problem worse. If you fancy him so much , be a bit more patient, stutters normally gets less with confidence around people and finishing his sentences is just prolonging the time it will take to calm down

Just Ignore It.
The More Comfortable He Is, The Less He'll stutter.

The Stuttering Foundation's web site is full of helpful information about stuttering, both for those who stutter and for those who want to help them.

hmmm.... awkward one. Well first off - by you finishing his sentences - even though I know you're trying to do it to help him- probably makes him feel like a child and thus demoralises him.
When people take the mickey out of him why dont you intervene - tell them how childish they are being and (if hes not around )- tell them that its rather insulting and hurtful it is and how would they like it if they were in his shoes.

Finally - has he considered going for speech therapy? It can work wonders nowadays - look at Gareth Gates !

Stop finishing his sentences, that is so rude! Especially if he has asked you to stop and you know it bothers you. The only thing you need to do is listen to him and be patient. And what does "everyone takes the micheal out of him" mean?

It is better to let him finish his own sentences because a person who stutters could feel time pressure i.e. rushed if others complete their sentences.
