Weigh the pros and cons. ASK your son too, as he must be willing to do what it takes.
A Few Suggestive PRO's
1- quality time with your child - He will appreciate it later in life
2- He learns at his own pace - Can't argue that one.
3- Support groups just about everywhere - Wonderful asset
4- Above average learning materials - More opportunity for growth.
5- Allows you to determin what your child will learn (ex. Creation vs. Evolution)
A few suggestive CON's
1- Lack of time to spend helping him learn
2- You do not want to 'over' shelter him from reality
3- costs more than public school
That's just to name a few, but I think if you ask around to other homeschooling parents, you will probably find that the PRO's may out wiegh the CON's
I hope this helps.
Blessings!

Well if you live in a bad area and the schools have drugs and stuff than maybe it is best but I would never do homeschools as it does not teach you how to interact with other children and expeasially at a 6 year old age it is the most inportant age to have friends and etc so I would let him go to school of couarse you not going to like it at first but once he gets into things Im sure hell do better but follow your heart

Well if you're considering home schooling because he isnt stimulated enough, why not try suplimenting his school education by teaching him things at home too?
Thats what Ive done as my kids are very bright & you have to feed their needs if they are not being filled at school. You'll probably find that it will become more stimulating as he gets older.
Home schooling is a big undertaking & is a full time job not to be taken lightly.
Best wishes in whatever you decide to do!

You know, I am a teacher, and there is no way I would homeschool a child! There are just way too many benefits of being in regular school. Our son was reading at 3, and of course we provided him with a lot of enrichment at home even before he hit school. And, at school, he was heads and tails above everyone else, but again, we thought about it long and hard and realized we would continue to stimulate his learning at home, but he needed the structure and social aspects of being at school. Most schools have gifted programs, or enrichment programs - they are called different things in different places, so find out from your school where the programs are offered.

THE BEST ANSWER YOU CAN FIND HERE:
home schooling is a horrible idea. i'm a homeschooled student and it stinks. i guess it would depend on how good you can teach them. there are some sources like calvert school, connections academy, and for grades 6+, FLVS (florida virtual school--not ONLY for flordia [which is what i do]). but uhh... make sure they can have fun and stuff.. u no, like i'm bored as hell right now
and please dont 4get that if your child is not the type who can sit at home... then dont FORCE them to do homeschooling. like my mate n i r totally suffering it right now.. I MISS SCHOOOOOL :'(
ask your childs opinion first
check out the following websites... and if you want to know more about what I do and how and etc... feel freeeee to email me: asian_pranksta@hotmail.com
--sorry, but one more thing.... even though homeschoolin is more educational, it makes a person less social which is actually more important now-a-days.. so go with the flow =)

If you can afford to full-time teach your child at home, meaning there are also no younger ones in the house to care for, I think you'd be better off getting a job then paying for a small private school specifically for the social skills.
Plus people train to teach, and it is a skill. I wouldnt want someone with no training teachning my child, even if it was me. And Im typically pretty conceited!

We have several families in our town that do it. It is a big commitment by the parent and your child and yourself have to be disciplined enough to actually sit down and study without interruptions. Many of the kids will still go to the public school a couple of times a week for gym or music or art class so they still have the interaction with other kids.

Yes, and the more the better, DO IT NOW!!! there are extremely wise reasons for the benefits of home schooling such as:
Less distractions
No Bullying
No propaganda
No risk of subhumans shooting or terrorizing your kids
Better education via your text selections, and you provide all necessary materials, especially access to a computer...
No risk of your child being exposed to materials and or films that you would consider unsuitable...
No worry of poorly educated/crummy teachers attempting to teach your kids
No worry of abductions, bus/car accidents, and or bad weather concerns while your kids travel to and from school
No worry of unsociable behavior via you providing adequate play time for your kids before during and after school hours...

I was home schooled for a short while though not by my parents. I had a teacher come to me it's great for learning the only problem is that the social side of going to school is just as important as the educational side. So if you're going to take them out of school they should probably join clubs and things so they still have social time

The best school for our kids is home & the best teacher are the parents. But, unfortunately the world believes on certificites & home school cannot give that. So, even we either the kids not interested to go to school it has become a must to send kids to school, collages. At home we can give personal attention but all school & all teachers cannot do this. Try to convience you child to go to school, I understand it's one of the most difficult tasks but, you need to keep trying. BEST OF LUCK.
