Someone told me that Vitamin B-12 shots will help children to speak. Has anyone else heard this?

P.S. My son is 21 months and not talking...he's not lacking in anyother areas, and his Dr. is NOT concerned about autism.

I've never heard of this. I take B12 shots because my body doesn't absorb it naturally. Most people get plenty of vitamin B12 in their diets (unless you are vegans). If you want to give your son extra B12 I would suggest oral supplements. But I don't think it will help him to speak. Has his hearing been checked? This is one of the most common reasons for children to have speech delays. I also wouldn't do anything without talking to his doctor first. I don't think you can overdose on B12, but you can OD on some vitamins. At this age it is always best to ask the doctor. Good luck.

whats up, I hate to look adverse yet while your son is 21 mths and not conversing, his DR would desire to be stressful approximately autism or a skill concern. There are crimson flags linked with loss of progression and not conversing at 21 mths is genuinely one in all them. I even have been informed that if via twelve months a toddler isn't babbling, a crimson flag is going up. Autism is on the develop, i individually am now fending off my sons 2 mth photographs because of this very reason. i might seek for a 2nd expert opinion. i do no longer think of that YAHOO could have the respond on your sons subject and can strongly propose searching for out yet another DR. It additionally seems that in the time of many circumstances mothers and dads are informed "it is not something" and "do no longer subject approximately it" which doesnt help because of the fact in case you realize of a topic quicker, you will get expert help quicker. good success and that i wish the coolest for you and your son Lisa

Well the only info I can find is related to autism and infants born to vegans.

If you think it might work though I would highly recommend getting B12 through natural food sources which are better utilized by the body and much safer. The main sources are meat, eggs, and dairy.
