If I met you on dating service and you have profile as a single, when we chat I ask you "are you married?" is it common question or insulting question?

It shouldn't be insulting but it would need to be in the right context. Not sure it's going to work as an opening line but chances are you can weave the conversation (or the message you're writing) round to the subject so it's a bit more of a casual question rather than an accusation.

It's not insulting. But if they posted as single, and are really married, why would they tell you the truth this time?

70% of the people on these dating site ARE married so it is a fair question. Any one that would be "insulted" is most likely married and just pissed that you may be on to them!

a lot of people lie on their profile. when you ask them if they are married and they get insulted its probably because they are married and got caught in a lie.

I don't see no harm in asking that...there are people who are married will pull a stunt like that to have someone on the side (male and female alike). I would said no.....
