We Americans have to work for our money as well. But I DO agree with you. A lot of us ARE indeed cocky, spoiled brats that get everything they want and then some. I can honestly tell you me and my family are NOT in that catagory though! We struggle everyday to make it barely keeping our heads above water! My husband works 24/7 from sunup to sundown and even long after the sun goes down too. The spoiled brats of America make our kind of people look bad! They worry about their hair, makeup, what accessories they are going to wear to school etc while my family has to go to yard sales and Good Wills in order to even be able to wear clothes at all! America is spoiled. Yes but not all of us are! A lot of us are barely making it also so I can see WHY other places think this!

Good question. Nice generalization.

We have to work for our money here too. Where do you think our government gets money to pay for those who "fall pregnant at 15?" From taxing working people. DUH!

We have it easier than some countries, but not as easy as others, and each individual's situation in this country is a little different.

Since you can make a sweeping generalization about Americans like that....I think I'll make one about South Africans:

How come so many South Africans are on the computer trying to scam working Americans out of money instead of actually going out and working themselves?

Is it because they're cocky and think they can get away wtih it....or are they just lazy opportunists?

Hmmmm, let's see, I was 35 when I became (not fell) pregnant. I believe that's about 20 years older than you stated. Everyone I know was in their 20's or 30's before they BECAME pregnant. As for the Government handing out money to Americans left and right, naw, that don't happen. The actuality of it is Americans have a hard time getting Government help because the Government is helping too many foreigners. I know because I work for a Government agency. Next question,,,please,,,,

You are lumping a whole lot of people into a group represented by only a few. Most Americans work hard and are kind. While some do take advantage of the government, don't lower the rest of us to their standards. You should pay more attention to facts as opposed to watching the news.

I work hard for the money that I make, and I have several children that I don't expect anyone to pay for except for my husband and myself. I am American. Your logic seems flawed to me. Just because some Americans are cocky, selfish , rude, lazy etc, it doesn't make all of us that way. i imagine some South Africans are cocky, selfish, rude, or lazy too. It goes more to human nature than one country versus another country, don't you think.

Well bully for you for living in such a great country as South Africa!

I'm detecting just a hint of jealousy in your question. If you're so happy and content where you are, why are you concerning yourself with the US, and making derogatory comments? Me, I love being an American citizen and am proud to live where I am. So much, in fact, that I rarely ever think about other countries. Almost never, in fact. I'm more concerned with helping my own people with the problems they face.

I didn't fall pregnant at 15, have never been the recipient of any sort of welfare program, have a master's degree, work 50+ hours every week and still find time for volunteer work and friends. And I think I'm not that atypical.

If anything, we Americans are guilty of being exceptionally ethnocentric. Of having it too easy? No. Not even close.

Why must you feel that you can stereotype all Americans? Unfortunately, yes, there are people that don't work and have no ambition...however, that is not the majority....I was a single mom for many years, raising two children, and not once did I rely on the government to pay for anything! I worked hard and had to save to get where I am today...grrrr!!! That irritates me when people like you assume all of us Americans are lazy and ignorant!!

Well, here in the US women can't just get pregnant at 15 and expect the government to pay either. What are you reading that tells you they can?

I think thatthe administration is cocky. Not necessarily the American people. The majority don't agree with W Bush!

Let's face it. There's alot of good things that come out of USA. But a humble attitude wouldn't go astray sometimes.

And more of a respect for some of their friends that always support them. Like Australia!
