What's the LOGIC behind that?

Let's call this question, an analogy.

Let's superimpose this PURE LOGIC onto the life of a human.

Why would you declaw a human (disarm through gun control), and then send the human off into a world filled with predators?

Don't tell me that's what the cops are for, because it is a well known and UNARGUABLE fact, that cops DO NOT prevent crime. (If they did, we wouldn't have any crime, now, would we?)

To give them protection against an enemy such as a dog or coyote or any threat to their well being. They were born with claws and evolution dictated that claws are a defense mechanism.
Ever seen a defenseless cat ripped apart by a dog? go to WFOR.com and look in their video archives. It happened to a man's cat in Ft. Lauderdale FL 1 month ago and the cat had no way of defending itself.

first it is major surgery, which has lasting physiological effect on the cat

also if the owner dies then the cat will have a hard time being placed in a new home since it really can never go back out side, can not defend it self, can not climb a tree to get away really at the mercy of any other animal

My suggestion is if you are thinking about getting a cat and declawing it you should not get a cat get some other pet

my self love cats and have made adjustments, while I love leather furniture I know it is not possible with cats, hence i have purchase mission style furniture and I enjoy the wood look today

They can't defend themselves. I had my cat declawed when she was young and would not do it again, even with another cat that stays inside all the time. It is not just a matter of removing the claws, they cut off about half of their 'fingers'. She walked around limping and in pain for days and i would not put another animal through that.

Law enforcement and police category????

I believe that they say that the cats will not be able to defend themselves against predators outside (other cats, dogs, foxes etc.)

I think if you actually ask a vet, you'll find they recommend against declawing a cat under any circumstances. It is cruel and inhumane. Would you like to have your fingernails pulled off? I didn't think so.

So they can defend themselves a little and climb a tree if they have to. Ever seen a dog kill a cat?
