This depends upon the concentration of the acid, the use of the acid and general location. Small amounts of Sulfuric acid to be used in chemistry labs are usually stored in glass bottles with glass stoppers. These bottles should be stored in a suitable vented corrosive chemical safe in the storage area. Concentrated Sulfuric acid to be used in labs is often stored in glass carboys (volumes from 2 to 10 liters) which have a plastic safety coating and Teflon seal inside a plastic screw-on cap. Sulfuric acid which has been standardized for use in titrations is often stored under Argon, but this is usually not for long term storage. Sulfuric acid to be used in commercial or industrial syntheses is usually stored in stainless steal tanks. These containers can be plastic lined (often with Teflon) or glass lined.
