I'm not real clear on why so many Christians seem so set against US legislation allowing gay marriage?
Yes, I know homosexuality is an abomination. .
I think homosexuals themselves know there is something unnatural about it, or they wouldn't be telling us how they "do it" in the animal kingdom, as if they think we ought to pattern our sex lives after chimpanzees.
None of this is the point. The point is that people who are not Christians do not feel as if they ought to be bound by Christian laws...and who are we to disagree with them? I don't recall hearing nearly so much noise from Christians when the issue was whether or not homosexual couples ought to be allowed to adopt and raise kids, why all the noise now? Surely you know that making it legal in the US will not make it legal in God's Kingdom? We still have the right to say we don't want gay marriage in our churches, don't we?

We have the right to teach our kids what God has to say about gay marriage...
Which brings up the point...we need to allow our kids to realize that we are in the world, not in God's Kingdom yet. There is sin out there, and all we can do about it is to pray.
What we really need to guard against is sin in ourselves, don't you think? Sin, as in hating something we don't understand. Sin as in trying to make the entire world conform to our standards.
Sin, as in not trusting Jesus to handle these things.

Thank you for your time....

Atheist here.....

I think you should have the privilege to not allow gay marriage in your church. I think that having that privilege obligates you to respect the wishes of others who are members of other groups who do wish to allow gay marriage. If you don't want them dictating what you should and should not do to you, what gives you the right to do the same to them?

And where do you think Gods Kingdom is?We all live in it.To be bound together in marriage comes from the Bible. Its the Christian faith. We are a country founded on the Christian belief. How can you say one thing and do another?we fought the adoptions too just as loudly only people didn't listen as much as they do now.It is not only the Christian people who think this is wrong.Atheists and other religions, "people" what have you, are yelling too.Just because they don't believe in a God doesn't mean they think homosexuals are right.Don't label this a Christian issue. It isn't just us.This is a country's issue.

Are we suppose to be making excuses for this behavior and for ourselves as well? No, we cannot "save" anyone but give me solid scripture that proves believers that are guilty of enabling the sin of another by word of mouth is Christian behavior.

We are human and able to communicate especially when opened are we to lie? Do we lie to our loved ones...I surely hope not. Yes, we vote...a believers vote is connected with government which directly affects the lives of a nation. How so then are we to consider that doing nothing about everything is what God requires? How do you know this to be true?

You forgot sin as in judging other people.

And you hit the nail on the head about it being a sin for knowing nothing about a particular subject. This is an 'abomination unto God'.

Did God give you permission to speak for him?? How can you be 100% sure that homosexuality isn't 'legal' in his kingdom?? Other than what some book written by MEN says.

It is the threshold to chaos that's why and You would have to legitimize every other form of marriage to be absolutely Politically Correct. Take Christianity out of it for a minute. That would include Child marriages without Parental consent, polyandry, Polygamy and on and on. Don't be fooled in this Political correctness scam!

My church supports gay marriage. As an adendum to your question, why do you think that some churches think they have the right to dictate who other churches marry?

Why should a marriage in a gay friendly church not count the same as one in any church?

In every child, God has instilled a desire to have a father & Mother, & not a father & father or a mother & a mother. Even that 5 yr. old child has more sense than gays & Lesbians.

If Marriage has to be recognized by the government and not the church, does that not mean this is a question about equality. Who gives two sh!ts about what christians think, It is not there issue. For those of you who define marriage please refer to the first sentence.

I voted to allow gay marriage in my state, unfortunately 98% of the state disagreed with me. I'm not gay but I don't give a **** who's ******* who as long as they aren't ******* me in my wallet. Furthermore, marriage nowdays is a joke, how many marriages actually last? Let them get married and deal with each other, they'll probably set a better example than straight people.

Clap, clap, clap clap clap clap

I mean it!

But the limit must stand to where we draw the line. If gays want their rights recognised, (I don't say they don't have a point) what's next, pedophiles asking to legalize pedophilia?
