there is no way we can choose which body part to lose the weigt off - it has to be overall weight loss.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
dont try to lose more than 1-2lbs a week - its not healthy to lose more.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried - no junk food.

You have to burn the fat while turning it into muscle. Cardio will do the trick...running, walking, dancing, swimming. You also need to define the muscles with toning exercises such as calisthenics or weight lifting. In all, a healthy diet and at least 30 minutes of cardio a day should give you results in less than 6 weeks.

Despite what you may hear, there is no such thing as targeting specific fat deposits eg. love handles... The most effective way to lose fat is by diet and exercise and the best way to target specific fat deposits is to target them all. As fat loss tends to be very general.

Do sit ups but instead of moving forward, move forward and to the side of your hips/waist, alternating each side. This directly targets your love handles and will also help tone the sides of your stomach.

you can't spot reduce fat...
If you want to lose love handles etc, you need to drop your body fat percentage.
Also, good core strength through abdominal work and lower back work will make you mid-riff/stomach look even better when you lose those few extra pounds.
