Heat of any sort might help, a hot bath or a heating pad. If the pain persists, seek medical advise as it might be something that needs attention. It's the only back you'll ever have, so take good care of it.

Obviously you haven't had any surgeries otherwise you would have already been prescribed some type of narcotic or an alternative to addictive ones.

You didn't mention ibuprofen. So may be that ought to be the next one. But if it is so severe to the point of it being unbearable then you should seek treatment for it. Now here are the ones that I would use when I'd wake up in so much pain during the times that I could not even rest, sleep etc. For having been addicted to illegal narcotic's...And needing something during my withdrawls. That being:
1. CODEINE
2. METHADONE
3. OR;
MY OLD FAVORITE HEROIN....
4. For not having been able to rest, sleep, and to manage the anxiety that I used to get when being without my best enemy's...Narcoctic's.
And I won't say that I didn't enjoy using them because really the sensations that:
I'd reach were so tranquil that nothing else could compare to what I would live for until it got out of hand (20) something years late.
Which is why lots of heroin addicts die either clean or as well during actual insanity!
MASSAGES, SPAS,AND PRODUCTS FROM BROOKSTORM. Are real good ones like a $200.00 massaging tool that IS SOLD THERE. As well as other useful merchandize

GOD LUCK. :)

I suffered with lower back pain for more than 20 years. I popped Advils like they were candy till I finally went to a chiropractor. After a few sessions, I no longer take pain pills and I've never felt better. I have to return for periodic adjustments, but it's worth it.

I asked the same question, lol! My baby was born December 21st, 2008 so the experience is still rather fresh in my mind. I tried to go all natural without any pain meds and it was tolerable up until my water broke. After that, I was begging for the epidural. My labor lasted 19 hours, 16 of which I got through without anything to dull the pain. It just felt like period cramps progressively getting stronger as the time wore on. But then, after my water broke at 5cm, the pain intensified by about 80%. I remember that, while I was at the peek of one contraction, I was already dreading the next. I don't mean to scare you but it was by the most painful thing I've ever experienced. I was so concentrated on getting through my contractions that I hardly even noticed them putting in my epidural. And once I got that, it was a breeze. You can feel the pressure of the birth without all of the pain. Next time, I getting the epidural early on, before any of the pain comes. It wasn't nearly as bad as I had been anticipating. It actually made the experience rather pleasant. Hope this helps and good luck!

Acupuncture does help some people. Physical therapy might help. Go to a doc and have them do a workup and find out what is causing it. That will determine hoe to fix it. Chiropractor? Not for me. MD means medical doctor. Educated it the working and treating of the body. DC means did not complete med school.

Try seeing a chiropractor. Over the counter meds usually don't solve back problems.

I recommend seeing a chiropractor then getting a back massage. The dr. adjusts your bones and the massage releases your muscles. I personally use an ice pack and a contoured pillow. My mother relies on exercising with extra stretching to stay limber. Good luck.

Great question.** After getting hit very hard by a tractor trailer and undergoing various treatments I found that acupuncture was by far the best relief. ** Worth a try.

Mefenamic Acid or dolfenol is great! I have really bad backpains and it always works for me. You don't need a prescription for it, you can buy it at any drug store...
